Who’s playing?
I bought tix for Mighty ducks vs redskins in tennis.

How's the lucky sports gambler doing that bought Astros to win before the season started?
(Lucky in that MGM sports book screwed up and gave him 2500:1 odds instead of the usual max of 250:1)

Fuck the entire state of Philadelphia.

oh.. this is what i was talking about:
$50 bet -> $125k 😱

The faulty odds were offered for two weeks and only six bets were taken on the outcome, with the $50 representing “about 90%” of the total, according to Scott.

even more wild, a millionaire bet $2 million with BetMGM on the Astros to win the World Series, which would give him approximately a $75 million payout.

MLB is still extremely popular and although they could do better the sport has made multiple changes recently to "move things along" and increase interest among younger fans.

For example relief-pitchers must now face a minimum of 3 batters before another pitching change is allowed, they have also instituted a "pitch-clock" and eliminated the "infield shift" starting next season. (not sure about the status of the extra-inning "ghost-runner" on 2ed base)

infield shift?

thought the ghost runner was only in extra innings?
and is that still implemented for playoffs/world series?

Negative they did away with the "ghost-runner" for the post-season, what I'm not sure about is if it comes back into effect in the regular season next year.

And the "infield-shift" rule for next season is as follows:

"Starting in 2023, the defending team must have two infielders on each side of second base, all of them in front of the outfield grass, when each pitch is delivered." *(excerpt from MLB 2023 rules)

Why the change?
Does this take up much time?
Can't they do the infield shift as the batter approaches the plate?

And does it happen often per game?

The new "shift" rule isn't about time it's about scoring.

Th shift happens with nearly every batter these days and is "tailored" to every one of them individually by analytics. The theory is that it's part of what's been killing offense/hitting in MLB.

That's gross. That nose picker was very recently a nut scratcher.
I can just imagine sitting down with mom and gramma, back in the day, to watch a major league game. Actually, no. But work with me here. I can just imagine what they'd say if every 10 seconds someone is blowing their nose or scratching their nuts. The latter I can sort of understand. Nothing in the universe as satisfying as a good nut-scratch. Pure bliss. But schnoz thing - spring for some fuckin' tissues guys.

They expanded the cancer that is the DH rather than do the proper thing which is eliminating it from baseball entirely. MLB can go eff itself, frankly.

It was inevitable with the players association and the union .... keeps older players in the game far longer. (now that they can't use HGH and steroids!)
