If this girlfriend doesn't play games normally, I wouldn't recommend Trine or any other platformer - jumping and moving is extremely difficult for a gaming newbie. Even a game as seemingly simple as Super Mario Bros. would be difficult for the uninitiated gamer that isn't a child. Try something like Puzzle Bobble (aka Bust a Move): move the arrow left or right and press a button to shoot a bubble. That's about as easy as it gets:

There are many clones of this game as well, some of them free.

Yeah, I think someone would need to be a complete novice to not be able to handle the jumping etc.... in Mario. And even then, they would have to have really poor eye-hand coordination too boot. Sure, the first couple of jumps might be a little weird, but after 3-4, it becomes pretty easy.

I got my 78 year old Mother who had never played a game in her life to play Lego Star Wars with her grand kids. She has arthritis and still was able to at least survive for 10 minutes. It's really not that difficult.

Hide the Sausage!

I was playing this with one of my Exes and then she decided to change the game to Bite the Weenie. ouch....

Zombie/Horror games are the best to play with a gf, at least my gf loved them. Grab dead island, you can play co-op in it which is totally cool with a controller. She will jump at the scary parts which is so awesome.

I can recommend a couple but it depends on what your girl really likes
Minecraft (she needs to get the hang of it first though but will be addicted)
Mario or the nintendo games, not all are co op though
The sims series
