Not sure the best place to put this thread so will try here.

I built a gaming system a couple months ago and everything runs fine most of the time. Everything in-game runs well and looks great, but sometimes I have issues when starting a game. This mostly happens on Left 4 Dead but I have had similar issues with others.

Whenever I am using my computer for awhile(internet mostly) or someone is logged in to another Windows account, and try to start a game the screen will go black like it usually does then the video won't come in the screen will go black(as if it is turned off) my video card fan will slow down and this will go in a cycle. I get choppy pieces of audio while this is going like it is skipping.

These start up normally if the game is started right after startup or if I have not been doing a whole lot on it.

OS is XP x64.

Has anyone had this or know what it could be?

My Setup:
GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4 790X AM2+
AMD Phenom II 940 Deneb 3.0 GHz Black Edition
OCZ 4GB DDR2 1066
ACER 23" LCD Full 1080p Res
Sapphire Radeon 4870x2 Video Card
640GB WD Caviar Black

You problem is the OS. Mainly its a driver issue. XP 64 sucks because no company wanted to adopt it and write drivers for it. It really sucks for gaming since video card drivers, epspecially newer cards are not very good if they are even availible for XP 64. Either go to regular 32 bit XP or get Vista 64.
