I was running W2K with a ti4200 card and while playing game the screen would lock up, either showing a checkered design, or a blank white screen. So I downloaded new drivers, that didn't help. I reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled W2K, still having problems. So then I installed Win XP on a different partition, installed newest video drivers, games still crash.

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Has anyone corrected this problem by cooling it better themselves? I took my card out and blew some air on it, and a half pound of dust came off of it. It seems to have helped it for now, probably not a long term solution, I just hate to go a week or 2 without use of a computer.

can you put some extra cooling in your case to help this problem?
if the card continues to run too hot, you will eventually start to break the card.. i saw a GF256 DDR that overheated, and it had heat score lines in the picture on the monitor from being too hot. after the GPU fan was replaced, it was fine.. but those lines were there, and it looked terrible. the card was out of warranty and went into the garbage.

just gotta keep it cooler.. :)

Well you would think I have enough cooling, I have a Tornado 2000 case from 3dcool.com, I have 2 fans on the side blowing are in, and one on the back blowing air out. It was pretty dirty inside though, maybe that was the problem. I nedd to get a filter of some sort to put between the fan and case.
Thanks
