When I go into Control Panel, Game Controlers, I can install any of the listed devices EXCEPT for any Logitech device. If I choose a Logitech device the system immediately freezes and I have to reboot.

I had been trying to load the latest Logitech software along with my joystick. When installing the software, when rebooting and attempting to locate any logitech devices the computer froze. After that it would not successfully boot. I had to go into Safemode, delete the logitech folder on C: drive and I also deleted the logitech folders in the registry. I successfully loaded the Logitech software that came with the controller and did not do any updates this time. But I still freeze the computer when I try to add any logitech deice in control panel.

What did I DO? I already tried a reload of Win98SE. Still the same.

System:
Iwill kk266-r W/onboard sound and gameport
AMD 1.3 thunderbird
Maxtor 20g
Radeon 64M VIVO
384M PC133 ram
Antec case W/300w power supply
Pioneer DVD

I recently had the same issue. First, go to logitech's website and download the latest version of the software. While you are there, you should probably download the Microsoft Software Installer(should be listed at Logitechs site as a requirement). Now, the MSI is a flakey POS and it took me 2 weeks before I stumbled on something that made it work properly.

If the Logitech software hangs after the MSI finishes it's setup(it will seem to finish and proceed to the Logitech software setup, but nothing will happen afterwards) then try this bizarre solution: Go to Happy Puppy, download the game demo Outlive(though another probably will work), install the demo, then install the Logitech software. I know it sounds bizzare, but like I said, the MSI is a flakey POS(check out Microsofts website for peoples problems and other bizarre solutions).

Thanks Sandorski, you post was far from useless. I did not have to do the Game demo, but did the Microsoft Software Installer and Logitech Profiler 4.0 software and now all is well.
