<< $2/hr times 50 machines and packed 10 hrs a day, times 30 days is $30k/month gross. $12k expenses, leaves a net of $18k/month. These places tend to either suck and die, or rise and fly, and my guess is its the oldest rule of retail, location. >>

damn do you actually think you can fill your place for 10 hrs a day? i mean let's be realistic (don't mean to rain on your parade, just want you to take this into consideration for your net profits), most of the people you're targeting with this type of gamecenter are those either in school from 8am to 3pm, or those who work for a living 9am to 5pm...that's a big chunck of the day when they wouldn't be able to be at your gamecenter...just food for thought.

yea, but, u could get away with charging at least $5 an hour, so why not? have u considered u want to make back all the money u spent on the machines?

Kinkos charges $12/hr on considerably lower end systems, but thats not the market. I've been checking out as many of these places as I can, and $2/hr is the going rate, many of them are packed from 2pm til 2 am. Friday and Saturday are the biggest days, most places have half an hour or more of wait. OTOH the place I was at today with 40 nice systems (Sony E500 21" monitors etc.) charges $2/hr, $12 for all day, and $1/hr after 10pm.

Like I said, its such a great deal if one was close enough to me I would be playing myself. Demographics and location are about all I am worried about still.

Remember, that won't stop vandalism. If you want to keep the systems looking nice, either put them out of sight completely or behind a clear plexiglass barrier (which may also get vandalized but is cheaper to replace than a PC case... if it's a nice case.) 🙂
