In 2005 I attended CES and saw a booth showing some very cool technology which was used to capture in-game footage of clan matches. What set this tech. apart from a simple software app was that they had several real life cameramen using tripod mounted flat panel screens just as you would a real camera, ie. they could zoom, pan etc. through the game world and the output was saved and/or displayed overhead on large screens.
If I remember correctly they were using Unreal Tournament at the time. They had set up some code within the game which actually animated these cameramen within the game so you could see them fly to some nice vantage point on a hillside where they could watch the action and capture footage (they also had invincibility so they could be seen but not killed). These camera men could rotate their tripod screens to wherever the action was, and they had another guy who was switching between the different camera views (much like the guy running a live sports feed) and outputting whichever footage he wanted to the main screen above the booth. It was really amazing to see these 3 guys and their tripods standing in front of you, yet they were filming a game that was taking place somewhere else. You could see them in the game world, and see what they were seeing on their game cams up above.
The point of all this was that they could use this tech to capture live clan matches either for televised footage or for internet streaming.
To make a long story short, I've forgotten the name of this company and my Google searches have been in vain. I was wondering if anybody could provide a name or link to this company.
