Game assistance needed

My friend and I enjoy your average LAN game, however, often we want to team up together to take on the Computer. So far, Delta Force 2 and Rainbow Six are the only two games I have found that allowed this functionality. Of course there are many sports games but we also want a first person shooter.

I am not referring to hoping online and playing Half-life (etc.) against others.

Any suggestions from the AnandTech crowd?

Needed: Games that allow cooperative play against the computer AI.

The term (to search for) is "co-op" / "coop" for co-operative. Serious Sam is one PC shooter that offers it, but it's pretty rare on the PC.

For RPGs, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate 1-2 and I think Icewind Dale 1-2 have it (check reviews at GameSpot.com).

Halo?

Thanks for the sugggestions so far.

Halo, doesn't (at least the first one) we tried it ... it does offer TEAM PLAY but no BOT/IA opponent only other human players.

Anyone have any experience with Battlefield 1942?

Reading about suggest it may support this type of play
"All the action is multi-player, whether you play with and against computer-controlled ?bots,? human players, or a combination of the two, and up to 64 players can take part in the fight simultaneously. There are three main game types: conquest, team deathmatch and capture the flag. A fourth, co-op, combines bots and human players but plays the same as conquest."

Swat 4 seems to offer this option

"SWAT 4 offers the welcome (and all-too-rare) option of co-op play for all the single-player missions via both LAN and Internet. In this mode, all the missions are unlocked from the get-go, and you can bring a team of up to 5 buddies in to try and tackle the missions on your own. You'll quickly find that it's a lot harder to coordinate human teammates than the computer -- everyone needs to know their role and stick together, or else you'll be slaughtered when three guys try to squeeze through a doorway at the same time -- but it's great fun nonetheless. The only missing ingredient is the ability to fill out a squad with computer teammates: if you've only got two or three players available, that's all you get to do the mission with."

Anyone else have recommendations?

Ugh don't play the BF games against AI, it's just a joke. Me and my friends play the SWAT series, Rainbow 6 and Total Annihilation. There really isn't much selection for co-op games on the PC unfortunately.

System Shock 2 is getting pretty old, but still looks cool, and has a fun CO-OP mode. I also agree with the recommendation for SWAT 4. There are far too few good CO-OP games.
