So, the Gallon Challange, drinking a whole gallon of milk in under 1 hour. Is it physically possible?

My friend swears that he did it at another friends house one day, but the way he sweared by it he got realyl defensive, so i dont think i believe me.

As far as ive heard/seen/been told, no one has ever done it. Period.

Any input?

Our domitory had a competition to do that. I think several people completed it. The worst part is that the guy from our floor won... and he's lactose intolerant. The floor smelled HORRIBLE that night.

FTW
I saw some guy on some tattoo show do it. But, he puked within the hour. He finished the milk in about 15 minutes and lost it with mere minutes to go. I guess the secret is to wait 40 minutes then drink the milk.

Sounds like the same type who will swear he's gone cow tipping. If he's done it once he can surely do it again. Whip out a c-note and lay it on the table, say it's his if he can do it in front of a room of witnesses. Watch how fast he shuts up.

I CAN drink a gallon of milk and keep it down. I love milk.. It is easily the best drink ever. If I can drink 5 full glasses in around 30 minutes (taking my time) then I am sure as hell I could drink a whole gallon of milk in 45 or less.

because....

"The primary reason it is not possible to drink a gallon of milk in an hour
is related to stomach capacity. The capacity of the stomach is about 1
liter (Wardlaw and Insel. Pespectives in Nutrition, third edition, 1996).
When stomach capacity is exceeded (whether by milk or any other food), the
natural response will be vomiting. The stomach empties into the small
intestine at a rate of about 1-3 milliliters per minute. When you figure
how long it would take to clear a gallon of fluid from the stomach, it
would take almost a day for it to enter the small intestine."

the difference is that water can be absorbed through your stomach lining whereas milk can't. That is also why it is so much harder to drink a gallon of whole milk than it is with skim milk.

Yes, but I'm sure that some morbidly obese people could drink a gallon of milk in 15 minutes to wash down the 15 krispy kremes that they ate after the 2 dozen hot dogs and 2 slabs of ribs for dinner.

Seriously, theres some huge stomaches out there.

It works different for liquid right? I can easily drink more thank a gallon of water in an hour.

I thought the milk challenge was a challenge because of the ph of the milk.

thats the normal volume of it, it can stretch to hold just over 4 lieters, in a normal person anyway and that is just slightly more then a gallon,

its not impossiable to do, its just slightly hard, i have done it with 2% milk

Take it from experience, this is definitely not possible. 4 friends and I tried it freshman year. I got the furthest, I needed about 2.5 more glasses to finish the gallon. We had a HUGE group of people watching us in the DH (50-100) All participants disqualified by regurgitation :D
