Galaxy Tuner App for Galaxy S

I know we have quite a few Galaxy S phone owners here. I thought some might be interested in a new App that's available for any Galaxy S variant owner. Main draw for me is the sound portion but the app will also allow you to adjust color temperatures. Galaxy S phones use Wolfson WM8994 sound codec which is supposed to be one of the best audio chipset for phones. Voodoo 5.1 kernel incorporates the headphone amplifier but not everyone is lucky to have the kernel yet. You can use this app to mimic lot of that functionality. I'm a clueless noob when it comes to sound and audio but I do know the volume of my music increased noticeably when I messed with some of the settings.

Don't download the app from the Market. That one only works with Korean SGS. The one on XDA link works on all variants of Galaxy S including the US versions.

Wanted to update since it's out of beta and version 1.4 is now available on the Android Market. It works on all Galaxy S phones with Froyo now so feel free to download from the market and play around with it. It resets back to default when you reboot so don't worry about losing your original settings. You do have to be rooted to use this program and on Froyo. The free and paid versions are the same. If anyone has a good EQ setting they use for the sound, please post it.

When I updated to KA5 w/Voodoo5 kernel I noticed that the output into my headunit's AUX cable was vastly improved. I could hear much more detail than I could before, and my speakers are still running off the headunit.

Wolfson DACs rock. I'm using the one on my Chaintec AV710 now. It's the oldest piece of my system.

Voodoo Sound is not supported by any Vibrant kernel at the moment. Once the 2.2 source code is released by Samsung, Supercurio Voodoo Sound can be added and enabled on Vibrant kernels. Unless you're running Dragon kernel, which is based on i9000 on your Vibrant, you didn't hear Voodoo Sound. What you heard was likely placebo effect.

This tuner program gives you direct access to the Wolfson WM8994 so you can do some of the things Voodoo Sound can do. So until Vibrant source code is released and Voodoo Sound is added to our Voodoo kernel, we can use program as substitute. Try the program out. It will greatly amplify your sound volume.

I have the Chaintec AV710 as well on one of my computers.

Im not using that Voodoo Sound thing - just a plain Voodoo kernel w/ext4 support.

I noticed the increased clarity/volume when I flashed to KA5, but before I flashed the Voodoo kernel. So Samsung must've changed something in later revisions - the changes weren't there in the previous JK6 I was running.

edit: I truthfully don't need more volume, the volume level is quite acceptable, actually.
