Already have an iPad, so let's not go there.

Looking for a device to test higher-res UIs for a project I am working on. Can pick up a brand new Sprint Galaxy Tab for $325 from CL, or go the Nook Color route for ~$270 after tax and hack it up. Kind of leaning towards the NC right now as it seems to be a more open device, which has a certain appeal to me. I'd eventually like to spend some time messing around with that. Thoughts?

Edit: I should also note, I had a Viewsonic G Tablet for a whole 2 days with VEGAn-TAB. Worst display ever.

Take a look at XDA to decide what you're more impressed with on the modding scene. After the Captivate, Samsung seriously pushed me away from their mobile products.

The NC has Cyanogen coming to it soon - which means 2.3 before B&N gets it to us.

For $325 you'd be crazy not to get the Tab. The NC is great for the (retail) price, but it's not without issues.

I'd go with the nook Color over a Samsung product any day. Sure, you can hack both, but its better not to support a company at all when they don't support their own products.

The NC won't do video playback nearly as well as the Tab though, CPU/GPU are weaker.

Considering that you'd be paying significantly more for both a Samsung and carrier-branded/contracted device, I'd stay far away from the Tab.

Unless you want to be locked in to a $50/mo plan or pay $600

Edit: Just read that it's on Craigslist for $325. Hell, I'd buy it for that price.
