http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...-buy-and-other-retailers-devices-ship-july-7/

The 7-inch, 8-inch, and 10.1-inch versions of Sammy's largely identical slates have all popped up for pre-order online and at several big box retailers. The prices are the same across all of the distributors, and they all ship on July 7th.

7" Brown ($199.99)
7" White ($199.99)
8" Brown ($299.99)
8" White ($299.99)
10.1 Brown ($399.99)
10.1 White ($399.99)

Underwhelming specifications, and insultingly high pricing. :colbert: I expect better Samsung.

Same thing. I might consider the 8 inch model because it has such a thin bezel and is just a tiny bit wider than the 7 inch Nexus 7.

But if it's using a dual core A9 processor like the Exynos 4 series, then I don't think it'll be worth $300.

If I wanted an Intel device, I'd get Haswell + Win 8 Convertible-... which coincidentally, is what I am waiting for :)

The 8" might be a good buy, last I read it has an unspecified 1.5ghz Exynos dual core which could potentially be a Exynos 5250. If so that would be the most powerful tablet you could get at $300 by a fairly significant margin.

If they're using an Exynos 5, why hide it by listing '1.5Ghz Dual Core' on the spec sheet. List Exynos 5250. Hiding the CPU usually means that they're trying to hide something from the consumer, ie, masking a weak CPU.

I doubt Samsung is that stupid. At least, its a Snapdragon S4 Plus variant.

Engadget reports the 8 inch model as having an Exynos. Not sure if they pulled that out of thin air or not, since Samsung's website or press release only say "1.5GHz dual core". It's quite frustrating when they don't tell us what chip, like "1.5GHz dual core" is everything we need to know.

I fully expect Samsung to be that stupid though. They are shipping a 10 inch tablet with a 1280x800 screen and 1GB of RAM for $400. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if the 8 inch model is limping along with a TI OMAP 4460.

I've a Note 8, near identical specs to the Note 10.1, and its not laggy at all. Don't go by what the display models feel like, a hundred people a day play with those things and the store sales people don't maintain them at all.

I actually played with the note 8 and it was definitely very fluid and fast.

I think the Galaxy Note 8.0 is Samsung's first lag-free tablet.

Hopefully the Galaxy Tab 3 series follow the same path.

Not a chance for the 7 and 8 inch models with the crappy processors they have. No idea what to expect from the Atom on the 10 inch model.

Well optimization may be able to reduce lag.

The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 has a "dual core CPU", although the specifics aren't mentioned on GSM Arena.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 has the Exynos 4 dual core CPU... similar to the one found in the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 has the new Intel Atom Z2560 CPU which will probably rival Snapdragon 600.
