Galaxy SII Screen goes black

Hello,

I stopped in at my local AT&T store, and the rep said he "didn't know what's happening." (Honestly, he didn't seem very bright, and when I requested a manager, he said they were out.)

Here are the issues:

1. Several times in the last week, my screen went black, yet the icons across the top (battery, signal, etc.) still show.
2. At times, all I get is a black screen when loading apps. Restarting works.
3. Once (so far), I got a message that my contacts list stopped.

Next month I'll hit the one year mark. I am on the second battery. Against advice, I am running an antivirus (AVG) on this. I have a b/up via Klies.

Any clues/advice before I take the plunge and call tech support? I know my phone was new, and they're going to want to send me a refurb. If I can get a fix, I'd rather do that.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Not that I know of - I didn't purposely d/l or install one, that is. (thanks)

Edited to add:

I did install the ICS update per Klies, so to my knowledge, everything is up-to-date.

Did you try a factory reset yet? Symptoms sound like it's a software issue.

Try a factory reset or a completely firmware flash through Odin. Sounds like something is corrupted
