If you hold the phone on the sides and your fingers wrap around does it have a tendency to make 'false hits' (i.e, interact with the touch display) ?
Has not ever happened to me with my S7 Edge, Note 7, S8+ nor with my Note 8. I have cases on all of them and the cases are minimalist. Never had an error. Just tried to do that intentionally on my Note 8 just now.

Hmm ok. Kinda makes sense. I use a 3rd party app (Swiftkey) as my keyboard, and from what I know, it doesn't have any option to resize the layout.

Also, if you've been using the S8/S8+, are you used to the fingerprint scanner at the back by now?
You can resize the keyboard using SwiftKey plus the keyboard doesn't extend around the curve of the screen anyway (at least it doesn't on my S7E).

I had a decent amount of false hits with my previous S7 Edge. I have not had the same issues with my S8+ though I'm not sure if it's due to the different edge angles, improved software, or both.

As for fingerprint scanner, you learn to live with it on the S8+ but to me it's a definite downside compared to the phones with a more central location. I simply use 2 hands now whenever I need to use the scanner and with that assumption, it's fast and easy. Most people should just give up on trying to one hand the scanner.

As an aside, I don't think any facial recognition system is a full replacement for a fingerprint scanner but instead can be a great partner. I initially tried to solely use iris scanning and found it tedious to have to hold up to my face. However having it available at certain times is great (wet hands, gloves, etc).

The Oreo beta is live for those with Sprint, T-Mo, or unlocked US versions of S8/S8+. Also live in other places in the world. Hoping to see how it is from other folks. Not going to enroll since I need a fairly stable device.

The finger print scanner is about where the heartrate thing is on an S7E isn't it? I don't think that I'd have an issue with it there. I'd really struggle without it on the front, and without a physical button. Which is annoying as I kinda have the upgrade itch but nothing suits me bette than what I already have! #firstworldproblems

SwiftKey does let you resize. Tap the three lines on the upper left to resize.

You can resize the keyboard using SwiftKey plus the keyboard doesn't extend around the curve of the screen anyway (at least it doesn't on my S7E).

As @lopri mentioned above, Swiftkey only allows vertical resizing. I'll just have to use it and see how it works cos I've already decided to get the S8+.

I was worried about the location of the fingerprint scanner (don't care it's in the back, because that's where the 6P's was). I think it was over sensationalized by the media. I can reach it perfectly fine on my S8+, and it's easy to locate.
Thanks. I guess there will be a little getting used to coming off from the Nexus 6P with the centrally located fingerprint scanner, but I think I'll just have to develop some muscle memory in that regard.

That's cause of the case. The S7e on 6.0 had a fairly large false touch error rate without a case. It was largely mitigated on 7.0. Never had a false touch on my Note 7, S8 or my new Note8.

The only issues I have with false touches is when somebody is trying to pick up the phone off a table. I have no issues with the fingerprint scannners location and can unlock my phone one handed with out issue.

I've had a couple more occurrences of the fingerprint reader stop functioning and needing to reboot the phone. Email still doesn't sync in any sort of timely manner.
