I reported earlier that face / fingerprint unlock wasn't consistently allowing me to do so, a message about policy requiring me to use my PIN instead. Well apparently since Lollipop, if you use a screen lock app to lock your phone, it will do this. But Screen Lock Pro ($2.57) has a workaround option that still allows screen lock via widget/button to work. I hate that the physical side buttons are so recessed inside these cases.

I had to go mid resolution because swift key looks too big.

I had that too, same with my launcher app drawer icons. But if I changed the size of the icons/keyboard and then changed it back it was the right size again. It might also be fine if you restarted the phone after changing the resolution, but I haven't tried that.

Swiftkey doesn't let you resize keyboard? I use Gboard which let me resize in addition to Nova Launcher for desktop and app drawer.

Besides setting to max resolution and the most condensed display size, I went a step further via minimum width in developer settings to shrink content even further. Both both apps above let me sufficiently resize things to get to where I want.

What case are you using? Most cases I use include buttons so you don't have that problem

It does, but I know what he's talking about. Some apps don't automatically adjust well when they're already running and the resolution changes on them, and swiftkey is one of them. You can resize it, but I also think a phone restart helps.

If I had to take a guess as to why, I think it has to do with DPI settings as it relates to displayed resolution. When I set my icon size at medium res, and then increase it to high res, the icons will display small. If I go into my launcher settings and change the icon size, and then immediately change it back the icons are the size they should be. It's almost like it doesn't recalculate the DPI needed to make an icon a certain on-screen size until I change the icon size myself in the app... it doesn't automatically do it when I just change resolution.

It does, it doesnt adjust itself when changing phone res. Its the only app ive come across so far that doesnt.

I think this might be attributed to Samsung actively closing apps that aren't used. Are you using the full resolution or one step down?

I sat there with the app open on the phone, actively refreshing it. No sleep mode/switching apps/anything. Still isn't syncing. I want to say it's 6-8 hours currently for it to sync changes.

Taking the phone out of the case reminds me of just how thin and sleek this phone really is. Can anyone recommend a slim case that's really easy to throw on and take off just for around the house? I normally use a wallet case for outside so it's super thick.

Take a look at what Incipio has to offer.

I found a really slim case, but it's certainly not easy to remove. I like how it makes the phone feel, but I'm worried it doesn't offer much protection and wonder why I even bother if that's the case. We'll see though... hopefully I don't do anything stupid.

It's this one:

Has AT announced when they will post their deep dive S8 review? I couldn't find a date posted anywhere.

This gets asked every time a new phone is out, and there is never a set date. It's pretty much a "you get it when you get it" type of thing.

To add to what gorcorps said: it wouldn't be a deep dive review if there was a firm publication date, because they'd have an arbitrary deadline to meet! My guess is that it'll take several weeks (at least, since launch).

Just to keep it in perspective... the Galaxy s7 got it's detailed "part 2" review in July when the phone released in March

First time I've seen an s8 in the real today. (Stopped into ATT store).

Man, what an awesome device!

Just makes me double down my resolve to wait for the Note 8 tho.

Samsung... don't let me down!

It is indeed an awesome device. There's almost nothing about my 6p I miss... The s8 is pretty much better in every single way that matters to me. It's the perfect size (maybe it could be thicker for a bigger battery) and smooth as you could ask for. The battery life so far is good, and the only wildcard now is how the battery life and smoothness of the phone will hold up over time.

Just reiterating how much I love the feel of the phone in this case. The ergonomics of the design was lost with the first case I used, but this one keeps the shape better and it just feels right. I love the design of this phone and really hope it lasts. I'll be tempted to spring for the Samsung protection plan next year when the warranty is up just to make sure I have it covered

Are there any "must try" apps or games that will prevent the VR and controller from becoming a dust collector?
Is it worth even taking it out of the box? (Mine is showing up tomorrow)

I hear ya, I already have 2, one from the Note 4 and one from the S7 Edge. Play with it for a bit, collects dust on the shelf. Hopefully this one is more comfy. I wear glasses and have an astigmatism in my right eye that the GearVR doesnt correct so I need to keep on my glasses. Can anyone confirm if we can install VR and its apps to the SD card? I hated having to use the phones internal storage.

It's definitely worth trying out. If you're thinking of just keeping it in the box to sell it, good luck with that. Everyone that wants one most likely gets theirs with their pre-order, and then a bunch of people who don't want one also do the same, so you have tons of headsets flooding the market bringing prices down.
