Got email saying I was denied for the VR freebie because I didn't purchase it within the offer purchase period (before 4/20). My pre-order was 4/15 but of course the receipt they make us submit is going to say 4/21 (pickup and pay date). What gives? Am I supposed to submit the pre-order receipt instead?

Mine said accepted. Ema came today. I would definitely call and complain. Pre-ordered from Verizon about 3 weeks ago. Sent them that order slip.

Did you pay at the time of preorder though? The pre-order through Best Buy is just a reservation (order has been reserved)..

Interesting, I wonder what will happen to mine. There's no date on it at all so I'll probably get rejected but we'll see.

I'm also concerned that I only saw an option for the free VR, and not for the SD card and headphones which I thought was a good deal. Hope I get that option still if I get approved

You mean the $99 dollar deal?

Yeah, that one. When I submitted the claim for the free VR, there was a drop down box but I was only able to select the free VR. I don't know if it didn't give the option because I didn't have a credit card set up yet, or if I missed something.

Actually I just read that it was limited to 50k orders and was sold out almost immediately. I'm so pissed... That was a big reason I got the phone. I don't remember any mention that it was a limited thing, just a pre-order thing. I really want to take this thing back out of spite

Mine stopped also but the issue returned this AM.

Tried a bunch of things from the link below and so far the instructions from MACSTER51 seems to have corrected the problem. (Post 65, not 64) Will see as I thought it was fixed yesterday.

Didn't work for me. In fact it seems like it's worse. I have a feeling it comes and goes and all these "fixes" might have just been coincidental with it stopping.

My feeling too although (knock on wood) mine is still OK at this moment. We're just going to have to wait for the true fix from the powers that be. After getting an update on mine I typically grab my wife's and install the same on hers but I didn't in this case. So for right now, it's happy wife, happy life time here.

A couple days in and I'm impressed with the battery life and fluidity. Battery life is noticeably better than my S7 edge though I'll keep monitoring it as it did start quite good on the edge as well, though not this good.

Fluidity is something Pixel owners are used to but this is the best I've ever seen on a Samsung phone. I have no complaints on daily usage unlike my Edge which was up and down.

Yeah, that pisses me off too. TMo screwed up my preorder so mine won't be here until Monday. I didn't see any mention anywhere of it being limited.

Took it (S8+) off charge on Thursday night around 11:30.
Made it to Saturday 10PM with 19%.
Light to moderate use

That's pretty good. My battery got pretty drained through the day yesterday and ended around 25%, but I was also home playing with it all day. Today I've been out an about and used it more like a "normal" day and I'm at 71% now. Quite a bit better than my 6p has been lately in a comparable use case.

Picked up last years Samsung fast wireless charger (EP-NG930TBUGUS).
Works fine with a UAG pathfinder case on my S8+

I found the official Samsung fast chargers to work good with cases. In the worst case, it only recharged at normal rate.

Hello to everyone!

I need some advice/help with buying galaxy s8 🙂 I'm using note 3 for already 3+ years and I wanted to upgrade to note 7 but... well you know what happened,so I waited a little more and now s8 rolls out. I went to store, played with s8 for a little time, was kinda impressed and confused at the same time. This prolonged screen and weird ratio 18.5:9 looks kinda unusual to me after note 3.. I know that everything else is better in this phone but camera from s7+weird shape and ratio+some problems with red all this makes me confused and I don't know what to do... Just wait some time for note 8 or buy s7 edge which has same camera and better battery and which is 1,4times cheaper than s8 or what?

P.S In my country,if I make preorder until April 30th,I'll get Samsung Gear 360 (2017 edition) + 32gb 10th class micro sd as a gift.

I will be thankful for any advice, cheers.

Quick way to answer it: how much do you want the pen?

If you got the Note 3 mostly for the big screen... go for an S8 or (more likely) the S8 Plus. No sense waiting several months in the off chance you'll get a slightly bigger display. If you do want the pen, absolutely hold out.

The S7 Edge isn't necessarily a bad purchase, but I can't help but think that you'd kick yourself if you got one and had to look on with envy at S8 owners for the next couple of years. That and Samsung will stop OS updates for the S7 Edge sooner than it will the S8.

Ratio is fine, especially with the built in options to make all apps use full screen. If you browse a lot or use apps like Instagram or FB, the extra height helps with scrolling.

I would have been happy with equal battery life to my S7 Edge but I'm getting substantially better battery life - something like 1/3 better - with the S8+. I would not get the S7 Edge unless you're really looking for a budget phone (sub 400). The only worthwhile option to me would be the Note 8 which will likely have a slightly larger screen, dual cameras, and the in screen fingerprint scanner they wanted on the S8. For me the size of the + is as big as I want, I don't really care about dual cameras, and I never use the fingerprint scanner (use Smart Lock with my Gear S3 and also use Samsung Pay off my watch as its much easier).

After topping off my S8+ on Saturday night, I'm at 49% at the moment.
Aside from this stupid DQA keeps stopping bug, this thing is awesome

Thing is that I don't use pen, just at the moment of buying note 3 (approx 4 years ago) I needed big screen + big battery

Big screen + big battery is the S8+ right now. Even the S8 has a big enough screen for me, and that's coming from a 6p before hand and a note 4 before that. The S8 is the perfect blend of screen size and usability for me.

In that case, go for an S8. The Plus if you can, but even the regular S8 technically has a larger screen than your Note 3!

I'm also coming from a Note 3 and never used the pen. To compare, you'd have to go with the S8+. It has been very comparable with battery and I don't notice anything awkward with the screen in comparison. Videos are pretty much unaffected and so are all the apps I've used. You will not regret it.

I do miss the physical home button though. The wallet case I use makes it harder to press the side buttons (any of them) and you have to hold down the screen home button for longer for it to register.
