Thank you, blackangst1. Bestbuy's offer seems most attractive. I am on AT&T but its offer is a BS which requires a switch to DirecTV. It is going to be a tough decision for me to make because I hate the carriers' meddling with a passion.

The free gear VR & oculus controller is not a T-mobile exclusive, that's being offered through samsung so EVERYONE gets that as a pre-order bonus.

Best Buy giving $100 off the s8+ is the best I saw. Target is giving a $100 gift card on either the s8 or s8+... so if you shop Target a lot that might be the best option for the regular s8 (since BB is only giving $50 off for the s8)

Target's $100 gift card sounds better than $50 off outright. I buy paper towels there. ^^ I guess I will take a trip to AT&T to find out and assess the damage AT&T has done to the phone. For starters, I am not a fan of that "Galaxy S8" or "Galaxy S8+" labels on the back of the phones.

S8+ arrived yesterday, setting it up took a bit and a call to Verizon, but works great. Haven't found any dead pixels on mine.

Oh, I see. The earphones come with the phone?

And:

He already managed to break the S8..

Ha, I remotely rebooted the companies website so I had an excuse to go back to my office and set up the s8+! 146 more apps to dl.

Which carrier are you on, and how bad is the bloat?
I'm using a Verizon branded s8+ with my t-mobile sim. Good news! No apn settings! It's truly unlocked. Not too much bloat, just the usual vzw bs. I'm real happy I don't need apn settings. SMS and mms works fine. And no insignia on the back either.

I too have the gray S8+. Delivered today, looks pretty amazing. Didn't really need to upgrade, my S7 Edge is in perfect shape but just wanted to. Playing around with it, getting everything setup how I want. So far I am really enjoying it. Using Verizon with old school unlimited. Damn this phone is a good looking piece of gadgetry. No case for me.

From a S7 edge owner perspective:
I saw the S8 and S8+ the other day and the phones look amazing aesthetic wise.
Samsung pretty much eliminate most of the bezels.
After having the S7E for over a year, I just want a flat phone again.
Another problem for me is that Samsung decided to change the screen ratio. Thats a big miss for me. The S8+ is a 6.2" but same width as my Edge. So the real estate I'm gaining is length wise. I don't see hows that helping me if I'm looking for a bigger phone than my Edge.
This reminds me when Apple went from the IP4 to IP5 and the screen got bigger only length wise.
I mean in the time that I've had my S7 edge, never once did I thought to myself that I wish I had more real estate length wise. But I always wonder about having a wider phone which would help tremendously when browsing the web.

Not even a skin? I was thinking of skin + glass screen protector combo. I kind of wish the phones were a tiny bit narrower (~2mm maybe) for people with stubby fingers. I saw the phones again today and a couple of things I noticed that I did not at first :

1. Glass back shows fewer fingerprints. It picks up every touch and becomes unsightly in no time but compared to their predecessors they do not look nearly as messy. It still gets messy, but I can acknowledge that there is a progress. lol.

2. Colors in basic mode do not appear as accurate as they used to be. Both blue and red are noticeably oversaturated and clearly outside the sRGB gamut. Green appeared OK. This was observed on all S8 and S8+ phones I saw today. Probably not a deal breaker, especially in the context of other improvements made on the display, but it is still a step back in an area where the accuracy is expected.

3. (continuing on display) White is excellent. Perhaps the most pleasing white I have seen on a smartphone. That I could say that on AMOLED screen.. oh my how times have changed.

4. Front-facing camera still defaults to the "Beauty Mode," and there does not appear to be a way to fix it short of shooting RAW. (is that possible with the front camera?) Your skin looks like that of 2 year old kids babies, and I do not like that at all although I could see why they are doing it. It is vintage Samsung.

5. Again I think they could have made the regular S8 ever so slightly smaller since they are releasing the plus size simultaneously anyway. An 5.5" screen instead of a 5.8" would have made a fantastic "compact" phone without sacrificing much.

Got the earphones, sound awesome. Still can't order the VR. Samsung has not set the site up for us to redeem yet.

Did it last night.

Install the Samsung shop app on your phone
Sign in with your Samsung account do it through there.
First thing that shows up when you log in is promotions.
Toss in you mailing address and submit a picture of your receipt.

After all the complaints about the finger print sensor placement online, I'm not having any problems.
Having a case on it and being a righty makes it a no brainer.
Finger naturally ends up in the spot when I pick up the phone.
