It's the best cell phone camera I've used imho, and the burst mode's pretty damn amazing.

Well, I have the One S. I know how good the camera is.
Still where does he get the notion that the One S camera is "significantly better" than the GS3 ??
The GS3 still hasn't reach the mass market for a consensus yet.

The ONE's also have a significantly better camera - and I'm not talking megapixels.

No it doesnt. The One X is slightly better in low light conditions thanx to its f2.0 system but its using an old sensor. Infact its the same sensor used in Galaxy S2.
Galaxy S3 is using a next generation sensor not available to other vendors yet.

The S3 isn't even out yet and people are claiming all sorts of things about the screen and camera.

From the GSM Arena head2head.

HTC One X over Samsung Galaxy S III

Impressive polycarbonate unibody
Brighter IPS LCD2 screen with a full set of subpixels
Beats Audio
Already on the market
Likely a bit cheaper

Samsung Galaxy S III over HTC One X

Bigger screen - 4.8" over 4.7"
Higher display contrast and better sunlight legibility
More storage options - 16/32/64GB + microSD over non-expandable 32GB
S Voice natural language commands and dictation
S Beam for easy and fast file transfers
User-accessible 2100mAh battery over non-removable 1800mAh battery
1.9MP front-facing camera with Smart Stay

The S3 also has better battery life and much better video camera. The screen is subjective.

Simply referring to the One X's screen as an LCD is doing it a disservice imho. It's far from just an LCD, that would be like me using the original OLED screens as an example why the latest AMOLED's suck. While I'm still not a huge fan of even the latest AMOLED, I will admit they look tons better than the 1st generation ones.

I'll take the 1st gen SLCD of the Incredible S over a pentile SAMOLEd screen of my Nexus S (my gf has the Incredible 2), but I'll take a SAMOLED+ screen over a SLCD screen any day.

With that said, the SLCD2 of the One X looks infinitely better than the SAMOLED Pentile 720p screen on the GNex. Certainly the uncalibrated GNex screen is also doing it disservice. I think a well calibrated screen could make the difference less of an issue.

But honestly, I think everyone here will be extremely happy when SAMOLED+ 720p finally hits. No one will EVER look back on the Pentile screen. Just like anyone who even thinks the Pentile 800x480 screens look good now is completely disregarded. You will only hear praise about the SGS2 and how its a huge step up.

Review after review. The two which most immediately come to mind are Android Central and All About Android.

http://castroller.com/Podcasts/AndroidCentralPodcast - Its either in the CITA special or the S3 episode. Shutter speed and image quality on the ONEs is superior.

http://twit.tv/show/all-about-android/60 -- I think its episode 59.

I'll through a link to Anandtech now also:

"The SGS3 takes some of the best video around, the largest display in its category, feels as smooth as the competition, and has expandable storage. Unfortunately where it does seem to lag behind is in the ever important in-hand feel, still camera capture (which has improved, but HTC's One camera comes out just ahead in low light), and HD SAMOLED with PenTile is still a divisive thing for some enthusiasts, in spite of how hard it is to notice on devices like SGS3"

I'd get the S3, in this case. The One X is good, but the version with the Tegra isn't as good in terms of battery. If you can get the One X with the Krait SoC, I'd recommend that, but only if you don't need a removable battery or expandable storage.
