Galaxy S3, Available on 5 US carriers

The one carrier that hasn't announced the June 21 date is AT&T, so I'm worried that they may be planning to screw their customers.

Preorders start June 6th. Can't be much later for the actual sale. Also, looks like ATT is getting an exclusive RED color option. I doubt ATT can resist a Red, White and Blue promotion for July 4th.

I figured the S4 Snapdragon because of the LTE and HSPA+ 42 but 2gb ram is nice surprise.

I'm mildly tempted since I have 2 available phone upgrades but I will pass and let my T-Mobile contract expire in July so I can jump ship to Straight Talk prepaid. I can't bring myself to buy S3 knowing Samsung and US carriers will not update the OS on the phone in timely manner. Hardware is important but the OS is equally important. iPhone and Nexus are the only two phones with the hardware and OS updates and only phones worthy of my money.

Lte penetrates buildings so much better. I get edge at work but would get 15mbps with a thunderbolt in the exact same spot

LTE tech is newer and tends to provide faster speeds than HSPA+ tech. That said, most current LTE radios eat more battery compared to HSPA+ radios. That is at least the case with AT&T's LTE. To complicate things further, T-Mobile has an upgraded HSPA+ network that in many markets provides LTE-like speeds.

multiple storage can be a hassle, there are still a lot of Android apps which won't let you install to MicroSD. And nothing that uses a Widget will probably ever work running from an SD. I would take 32 gigs internal with no SD slot over 16 internal with a 64gb sd. But that's just me.

Sooooo... as someone mentioned in the article, would I be able to just buy whatever phone tomorrow and return it on the 21st and grab the SGS3 and keep my extra data? All these carriers have no risk 14 day trial periods and such right?

Why the &%*$ is there even a 16GB version in the first place? It's 2012. Flash memory is super cheap. Hell, cheaper still for Samsung who manufactures a large percentage of the world's supply themselves.

32GB should be the bare minimum that high end phones these days release with.

It does run Touchwiz but that isn't as bad as it sounds, it's by far the best of the Android skins and includes an improved browser and lots of other useful features like picture-in picture so you can watch videos in a small window while doing other stuff on the phone, a substantially improved dialer, and eye tracking to keep the phones screen unlocked while you are looking at it.
