i think i convinced myself to purchase the international SGS2 tonight from newegg or amazon. even if i do get caught and they add the smartphone data plan to my account, which seems very unlikely according to most online accounts, i can still break even at worst if i use my upgrade to get an subsidized iphone5 and resell.

i'd lose NFC, since the international version doesn't have NFC, but dont really care for that feature anyways since most plces in the us dont even support it.

newegg or amazon wont give you a warranty either fyi.

Let us know how it turns out if you're going to do the pre-paid or post paid.

i'm on a family plan, i dont intend on changing that since my fiance has an iphone. I will simply just be adding "non-smart phone unlimited data plan" for $15.

Well that would be the same thing. The benefit of the imported version is getting on that unlimited $15 plan.

I think I am going to wait for the iPhone 5 launch to see if that lowers the price on this imported version. Hopefully it'd be less than $500 from a more legit-looking site like Amazon. Then I'll just grab and iP5 to sell it and get the SGSii.
