I'm debating picking up the Note 9 while it's still on sale for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Anyone think the Note 10 will have 5G? Might be enough of a reason to wait.

Leaks suggest the s10 will have 5g (or at least one model); and the note is released after the s10....

Yea I remember that comment; but since then there has been a dozen articles like this one that indicate they will make a version with 5g. I think the issue is that 5g is rolling out (at least in usa) faster than they expected and at least one competitor had indicated support for 5g in 2019:

Samsung's CEO back in August said the S10 would not be Samsung's first 5G phone.

For what it's worth, I decided to wait.

I am retracting my early criticism on the Note 9's AMOLED screen in comparison to iPhone X/XS's screens for a couple of reasons. First, the new iPhone screens are wildly inconsistent per-unit basis. The display lottery is real and every other iPhone XS I have seen in the wild has a uniformity issue, reminiscent of early batches of the S8/S8+. And just like the S8/S8+ some iPhone XS'es suffer from pink-tinge around the screen edges.

Another reason is that upon installing Samsung's new One UI beta, I see a subtle change on the screen calibration on my Note 9 - for the better. Whites are more true to D65 at varying brightness levels, and so are color accuracy. There appears to be a slight battery hit by my unscientific observation, but since the phone's battery capacity is large enough it is not a big issue. One thing I am not liking about One UI is the newly aggressive auto-brightness, which seems to be having a hard time learning my preferences.

All in all, I am satisfied with the Note 9's display for the most part. I wish manual adjustment could take brightness higher, but I reckon the technology is not there yet. Hopefully, the next generation of AMOLED will bring much-needed improvements across the board (brightness, longevity, accuracy, power consumption, etc.)

With my Note 9, I've noticed the opposite, actually. I'm regularly hitting 23-24 hours of battery with about 8 hours of SoT on the second 9.0 beta, while with 8.1.1 I was getting about 18-19 hours with 8 hours SoT.

I probably should start a new thread for this, but I hate making threads. What are people's thoughts on the Note 10? I'm not too enthusiastic, but I'm getting pretty tired of this Note 5.

The camera scanning thing was interesting but probably useless. No headphone jack is a nono for me. Probably will be the first note I don't get. Besides the 5.

This is the first year where I haven't followed any rumors, frequented android central and then pre-ordered the Note (I have pre-ordered since Note 4)...

I have been bouncing between my $300 pixel 3 and Note 9 (much easier to run with Pixel 🙂 ) and am happy with both...losing headphone jack would suck (always keep forgetting to recharged my bluetooth earbuds) but pixel doesn't have one either...

Wake me up when they get rid of the cutout and stop with the curved (useless) screens. I'll stick with my Note 9 and curse the curved screen. 😀

Damn it all to hell! I pre-ordered it. I have a sickness.

No headphone jack makes the Note 10 pretty much worthless in my book. Sticking with my Note 9.

I hope sales are abysmal. I personally don't know who it is that was looking to Samsung to deliver $1000-$1200 phone stripped of features like SD on the smaller one, and headphone jack on both, but it surely can't be that large an audience beyond current Note owners who'll keep what they have.

It was a nice ride while it lasted Samsung, but I'm personally not jumping on the dumb dongle train. Dumbest trend in tech and still rolling.

I hate the cutout. I am disappointed by the lack of a high refresh rate screen. I am disappointed by the fact that it's only using the SD855 SOC and not the 855+. I am disappointed by the lack of a headphone jack (or even an adapter in the box!).

But this Note 5 is getting slow and the battery is beginning to die more quickly... and I love the s-pen too much to give it up.

I feel like if I get it this time around, then next year it'll actually have the best SOC and a 90-120hz screen and maybe even an under-screen camera so no cutout. Headphone jack is probably completely gone though, sadly.

Hopefully they have a buy one get one free deal on these at launch like with the Note 9. If so I will be getting one for sure. Well, either that or if Samsung insights comes through again this time.

Didn't you need to activate a new line for those deals? How is that a deal if you don't need another line?

the $600 trade in for the Note 9 or Pixel 3 (I paid $299 for my pixel when they had Google Pixel day or whatever day that was) plus the $150 credit for the Samsung wireless earbuds and 10,000 mah power bank is kind of tempting.

I just bought a new Note 9 512GB because the Note 10 has no headphone jack, this may well be my last Samsung purchase (of any kind) as I value the headphone jack extremely highly, the lack of it is a big smack in the face. It will replace my current Note 9 128GB later this year.

I'm, not really sure.

Who has this deal?

I think only best buy has the 600 for a note 9 trade in. Samsung's site only has 300 off with a note 9 trade in. I went samsungs site as they have the tmo version and I already have a credit account with them. I got like 3000 points. I got the bitch-buds and battery pack which I will sell off to recoup some cost. They will take off 450 if I gave them my S10+ but I chose to keep it as I usually hand it down to my wife or son.

Here are the trade in values (at least as of today) on the Samsung site: Note 9 is $600

EDIT: these were the prices for trading for an UNLOCKED device...carrier phones received a lower trade in value.

On the Best Buy site, the trade in credit cannot be applied to the purchase an of unlocked Note 10/10+. you would just get a gift card for the value. I would definitely get an unlocked phone so guess that leaves Samsung as my only option....

pre-ordered the Note 10+

I don't know why anyone would get the regular Note 10. If you're doing that you might as well just get an iPhone. Note 10 is actually Note 10 Lite, while the 10+ is the actual Note 10.

Stop complaining about the earphone jack already. You all keep crying about bezels, so they removed bezels at the expense of the 3.5mm jack. You cant have both, the bigger screen and the jack. It's either/or. The technology is just not there yet.

And don't tout the One Plus crap. That motorized popout camera is just one more moving part likely to break. Besides, the One Plus has a plethora of issues of it's own.

I pre-ordered 256GB unlocked blue on samsung.com last Friday...my original received by date was 09/04 but when I checked this morning, it got bumped up to 08/23. Already have a speigen clear case that got delivered yesterday and some screen protectors will be here this weekend.

Pretty much the only reason I am doing this is for $600 trade in on for Pixel 3 that I only paid $299 for...

no sd slot no buy. Thanks Samsung; now I might as well get a pixel.
Thats why I went with the Plus. I also wanted the bigger screen. I'm kinda exited but not "thrilled" with it. If I wasn't a phone junkie I would have skipped it like I did with the Note 5 and galaxy 6,
