I'd bet no, waterproofing is a big reason, plus it helps push sales for when the battery wears out, how many people have the battery replaced on sealed phones?

I had the battery replaced on my Samsung tablet for less than $100. Definitely cheaper than just buying a new one

I miss my Note 7. I chose to get the Edge as a replacement, which is an extremely nice phone, but it's just not the same. I finally received my fire-proof box and shipped it back on Friday. I can't wait for the note 8.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but this really pisses me off. They give us $100 credit for staying with Samsung. Great. Not much, but at least it's something. Or is it? I noticed Verizon is offering $100 the S7 Edge. So, if I would have gotten a full refund and bought the Edge, I'd have been ahead $25. Thanks for making me feel stupid and taken advantage of.

I sincerely hope we get a Korean-style discount on the next Note.

I wonder what verizon does with the fireproof return boxes. I had to add much more tape to the exterior of the box as the little strip was basically useless. I also taped the bottom much better than they did as it was bulging even before I added my note 7 in it. Do they collect all of them then ship en-mass to samsung? I could see a lot of these "disappearing" and showing up on the black market soon.

sigh... i got nailed by the 60% update today.

Its going back tomorrow for a s7 edge... RIP note 7. i will miss thee...

AppleInsider has learned that unreturned Galaxy Note 7 devices are still causing fires, with a CPSC employee telling us that there have been "more than 10" fires since the full recall, all caused by hold-outs refusing to return the devices.

So much for the conspiracy theories that the fires were over-reported to get the Note 7 off the market. Occam's Razor once again prevails: you weren't hearing about subsequent fires because it was non-news after Samsung killed the phone.

That's not actually news.

i want to see if samsung will honor what they will do in korea in the us in regards to note 7 users.

In Korea, basically if you were a previous note 7 owner, and u changed to a S7 or S7 edge, you would need to only pay off half the phone to recieve an upgrade s8 or note 8 phone for half price when they come out.

So basically you still end up paying for a full phone, but you end up getting ultimately a note back in this whole debacle, or you can get a S8.

Personally i will not even think in a heart beat to exchange my s7 edge for a note 8 down the road. Im also curious on how ATT will royally screw this up as well, as they been terrible at handling all the recalls on the note 7 itself.

On a brighter note.. i saved a ton of money on car insurance when i told them i exchanged my note 7...
(sarcasm)

Whoa, haven't seen you in a while. 🙂
Yep, I've been gone for 18 months helping make America great again. I've returned to reclaim my throne as the biggest asshole around these parts😀

Still a SONY fan. Got myself an A7R ii to celebrate our win on Tuesday. But, yeah, SONY blew it in the mobile space. Really blew it. There just there to be there. So I've moved on to Google Pixel. Sorry I couldn't enjoy Samsung's debacle a couple of months ago since I was so busy but. boy oh boy, wasn't it sweet? 2016 has been a great year so far.

Looks like Samsung's going to kill the Note 7 in the US next.

Amazing how many and how fast Samsung can push updates to purposely break the phone, but how slow and few updates that actually fix or update things can be pushed out... Actually kind of scary how easy they can remotely brick your stuff if they want to..

Not really amazing. Just think, is it easier to break a phone, or to fix a phone?
