If it really does support OIS, it is likely to be thicker than the previous two iterations of the Note unless Samsung takes a completely different approach from Nokia and HTC. Optical zoom honestly seems out of the realm of possibility.

What's OIS?

Optical image stabilization. That should be possible (but will be a bit thicker as noted) but optical zoom will require some extremely clever new engineering to fit in without a hump.

I'd be wary of these photos and rumours -- there's not a lot that's really verifiable here.

Also, the golden rule for rumors: if an analyst 'confirms' something, it's not true. Most analysts are notoriously poor at judging things from supply chain sources, and I wouldn't put it past some of them to simply make things up, whether it's for publicity or out of confirmation bias (see all the false "iPhone production cut in half" rumours meant to pump stock in Apple's rivals).

A new source claims that the Galaxy Note 3's display wont be as large as 6 inches, it will be 5.7 inches.

If this is true, I'm getting a Galaxy Note 3.

6 inches is too big, 5.5 inches is the size of the Galaxy Note 2. A 0.2 inch increase will probably bring more screen real estate and minimal bezel.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Display Rumors Take a Twist

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display, which has been rumored numerous times to be either 5.9-inches or 6-inches in size, may actually be smaller than expected with a credible source claiming that the Galaxy Note 3 display will be a little bit smaller and sit at 5.7-inches or .7-inches larger than the Galaxy S4 display.

All along, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display will be much larger than the 5.5-inch display on the Galaxy Note 2. Rumors have suggested that the device will employ a 5.9-inch to 6-inch display which would make it a full inch larger than the Galaxy S4 display and about half an inch larger than the Galaxy Note 2 display.

It appears, however, that the Galaxy Note 3 display rumors have taken a twist with the well-sourced @evleaks claiming that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with a 5.7-inch display and not a 6-inch or 5.9-inch display as has been rumored for months. This is clearly not official or confirmed, but it does throw a twist into the Galaxy Note 3 rumors that seemed to be taking shape well ahead of the Galaxy Note 3′s highly anticipated launch.

Should the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrive with a 5.7-inch display, it will be the same type of increase that the Galaxy S4 saw from the Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 possessed a 4.8-inch display while the Galaxy S4 checked in with a larger display, sitting at 5-inches in total. Samsung may be trying to avoid conflicting with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, a 6.3-inch device, which is likely coming to the United States soon.

It’s also possible that it decided that a .5-inch increase was too much. It’s also entirely possible that one, or both of these rumors are wrong. However, given the track record from @evleaks, it’s hard to dismiss the 5.7-inch rumor, despite the weight of the 5.9-inch and 6-inch rumors.

Galaxy Note 3 display rumors should start to harden up in the weeks ahead as Samsung starts prepping for a Galaxy Note 3 launch. The device is said to be coming sometime in September, likely at IFA 2013, with production starting sometime in August.

I have to say - if true, sounds like a good move by Samsung. Increase in screen size, 1080p, and no increase in overall size is a winner in my book. I love my Note 2 and wouldn't mind a bit more screen real estate, but it is pushing the boundaries of everyday comfort (especially in suit pants). If it ends up being thinner, lighter (it can get a bit heavy after extended one hand use), and => battery life, winner.

Dammit, knew I should've waited. Anybody want to buy a lightly used Optimus G Pro? :awe:

Why? The G Pro already has a great 1080p screen and S800 vs S600 seems like something you won't really notice. S-pen? Slightly more screen?

S-Pen, Air View, Air Gesture, LTE-Advanced, 1080p RGB Super AMOLED and more screen real estate.

S-Pen, the slightly-wider NII feels better in my hand, and I like Touchwiz over whatever LG's UI is called.

Edit: 1080p SAMOLED <3

I'd totally go this size if I was able to use a purse : p

Well the Galaxy Note 2 is actually more slimmer and compact than the Galaxy Note 1. The Galaxy Note 3 will sport a bigger screen and minimize the bezel area.

So I can easily see the Galaxy Note 3 being one of the most compact phablets while still sporting a large screen.

I think Samsung has finally listened to those who prefer LCD over AMOLED.

Personally I think the Galaxy S4's AMOLED screen beats out other AMOLED screens. Screen brightness is the only negative aspect of OLED technology now and once power efficiency is upgraded, then OLED manufacturers will start to increase the brightness without compromising battery life.

But for now, Samsung is using a dual strategy to appeal to both parties of the argument. I think people would love to see an AMOLED display with equal or better brightness to LCD displays.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Specs Rumors: LCD Version in the Works Alongside AMOLED

There have been many rumored Samsung Galaxy Note 3 variants thrown around: flexible display, aluminum body, you name it. The latest alleged model will apparently have an LCD screen.

According to Korean news outlet ETNews, Samsung is pursuing the option of releasing the Galaxy Note 3 in two versions this fall: one with an AMOLED display and one with an LCD. The reason for this is that there is apparently a shortage of OLED screens around. Samsung is choosing between LCD manufacturers, and is purportedly leaning towards Sharp.

What size the display will be is still up in the air, as Samsung has not confirmed any details about the Galaxy Note 3. Rumors initially had the Galaxy Note 3's screen over 6 inches, then at 6 inches, and the latest bit of gossip says 5.7 inches. We'll simply have to wait until the expected reveal this fall, around the IFA electronics trade show in Berlin. IFA 2013 kicks off Sept. 6 and a recent report indicated mass production of the Galaxy Note 3 could begin in August.

Other rumored specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 include either an Exynos 5 Octa eight-core chipset or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked in at over 2GHz, 3GB RAM, a 13-megapixel reaf-facing camera with some nifty features, and the latest versions of Android and the S Pen electronic stylus.

I'm skeptical only because the same rumor came out with the s4 prior to launch.

Besides increased ductility, why would I be interested in a flexible screen?

Flexible displays are unbreakable since they can bend on impact rather than shatter.

Also, flexible displays give rise to display lips and even bendable displays.

Look at this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OYTyl3ipgk

Of course we are a long way from achieving such technology but flexible displays present a lot of possibilities in regards to how people can physically interact with their smartphones/tablets.

I think this rumor is really just a rumor though. Hence why I didn't make another topic for it since this is a rumor thread.

There's a S4 variant with a LCD screen, which is a more likely application if there is a Note 3 Active. If I was a betting man, I'd feel comfortable that globally the standard Note 3 will be AMOLED. It's a differentiator Samsung is keen on maintaining.
