Hi All,

I have a Galaxy GTX560 that I purchased a week ago. Everything seems to be working OK but I noticed that the fan noise is pretty excessive on this card. If I go to open a web page with flash, it seems to spin the fans up and even sitting at idle the fans tend to spin up at times. I checked the temps and they hover between 32c - 42c while this is happening. This is a fresh windows install with the newest nvidia drivers. All of the AMD cards I had in the past never did this. I played BF3 and the card maxed out at 70c so the cooler seems to be working properly under load. It just seems that the card throttles quite a lot.

Anyone experience this issue with their Nvidia cards or these drivers?

I really don't think the fan should be spinning up to the point where it is audible when I am not gaming or running any graphic intense apps.

Browsing on Firefox used to cause my GPU usage to spike, making my fan speed rise, but only slightly. What monitoring program are you using and do you have a custom fan profile set?

I do not have a custom fan profile set. Should I try installing MSI afterburner and setting one to see if that helps? That seems to be one of the more recommended programs users recommend.

Yea try it out. You can do a custom profile and also monitor your gpu usage real time. Should help you figure out where those spikes are coming from.

Which browser are you using?

Try another browser maybe? This issue is one of the reasons why I switched to Chrome

I experienced the exact same problem with my old twin frozr II gtx465. The problem is NOT driver related. If you have msi afterburner up and running when it happens, afterburner does not detect the random fan ramp up.

I ended up RMAing the card because it was annoying me.

I was looking at the clock speeds while the fan is throttling and I do notice that the card goes into full speed everytime when the fans throttle. I seem to be having some motherboard issues at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if this motherboard is causing these issues as well.

chimax and tviceman - thanks for the input!
