Galaxy GTX 460 768MB $89.99 after $60MIRs + shipping @ Tigerdirect

Does that $30 rebate stack, making them $60 each after rebate?

-Wes

Looks like Galaxy has a few too many rebates floating around. But I'm sure this line in the rebate will stop you in your tracks if you try to get three rebates: "Limit (2) rebate offer per person, billing address, company, household and receipt/invoice during eligibility period." Even if they meant two of the very same rebate, I'm sure they'll just deny you based on this language. There's no way in heck they meant to sell this card for $60, so I'd only recommend sending all those rebates in to those of you who like to play the odds.

I live in GA and they charge tax and almost 8$ shipping so this is about 109 or 10$ cheaper than the newegg deal I posted about. With only 20$ in rebates from mine (40$ less risk...or 60$ less risk if you figure its a TigerDirect rebate), and it being newegg and not tiger direct, I think people from the Tax states may want to just do the newgg deal IMO.

From Slickdeals:

Additional $30 rebate which is good thru 1/30, even though the PDF shows expired in Dec, when you fill out the rebate it will show purchase dates good thru 1/30. The rebate form sends you here [4myrebate.com] where you may see the 1/30 expiration date. Original UPC is required for this rebate.

It does indeed show up as 1/30 on the website, but I'm betting that this is some sort of SNAFU on 4MyRebate's part, and that it won't get honored.

Err duh. I'm slow today.

Even with the limit of two rebates per household, you can get it down to $70 if you have a Fry's locally. Fry's has it for $140 - $40 rebate = $100. Add that $30 rebate on top and it would be $70, assuming they honor the $30 rebate since the website says 1/30.

Kicks self in head knowing that I'm going to get a fight for the rebates and the $10 VISA credit but did it anyway, lol! 😛

i wanna jump in for #2 for SLI, but i need to know - is this considered a new set of rebates, or just a continuation of the old one?

hmm sometimes i feel i need a second billing address and card attached to that billing address lol :colbert:

I wish to say yes, but realistically know its a no, and ultimately know its dangerous to play around in the rebate game because they can try to deny you for something like this.

^The rebate does allow 2 per the terms & conditions.

"Limit (2) rebate offer per person, billing address, company, household and receipt/invoice during eligibility period. Only one rebate application per envelope."

i read that as (2) REBATES forms....ie: the two forms we have to fill out

and I got in on the first round late last year, so I'm curious if I can go in again, or if I'll get rejected.

Ah well, in the end it is no big matter, I got a friend to help me out so that resolves that problem.

Mail In Rebates......suck.

I spent $30 more on this to avoid having to use mail in rebates. My message to all companies, if you can save us money do it when we're buying. Making us jump through hoops to get our savings is an absolute joke and I refuse to debase myself to that level.

You're probably right. I misinterpreted as being 2 per rebate offer. Those who bought 2 for SLI will most likely get screwed by the rebate.

Man, I really want to bite on this, especially since I have a Fry's nearby with it in stock! $99 for this card seems like a steal and since I play at 1680x1050 the 768mb of memory shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm...

Anyone overclock theirs yet?

Reference clock for GTX 460 is 675/1800
Stock for the Galaxy GC edition is 700/1848

Max stable overclock that I was able to achieve: 870/2000!

Wow Sli these and you destroy $500 performance for $180 at 19x12. I wish I found this before the 6850 deals. Oh well. Great deal.

Someday people will wake up and not buy the high end cards nV and AMD try and sell us to pad their bottom line. It amazes me more people don't sli/xfire the value cards more as the value has been there since 6600GT days. Usually paying half or less for two cards which do the work of highest end single card. This deal exemplifies this.

I think you got a fine deal on the 6850s (as long as it was legit). I don't consider buying two GTX460s with $120 in rebates a fantastic deal, because you're going to be worrying about that $120 for months.

I'd also say that a lot of people are already waking up to the fact that a GTX580 is not a good deal. There are plenty more people on the boards with crossfire/SLI systems than with the GTX580.

On the flip side sometimes you have to spend more on the motherboard to be able to do dual graphics, especially SLI. Crossfire drivers don't care as much.

Yep, my last setup was twin 9600GSOs that I got for $40AR apiece a couple of years ago.

If you try to SLI these cards, however, you're going to find that the cooler is so deep (thick) that the cards will have to be spaced more than 2 slots apart or the top card won't get adequate ventilation. In fact, it won't get any. I tried putting mine in the first PCIex16 slot on my board and put one of my 9600GSOs in the second one below it for a Physx copro.

I noticed that they butted up very closely, but I thought that surely enough air would be able to get in there, because this is exactly how SLI'd boards would fit. 90+ temps told me otherwise. Now I have the GTX 460 in the #2 slot with the 9600GSO above it and everything's peachy.

Glad I really don't need SLI at my resolution (1680x1050), because it wouldn't have worked anyway.

How many games use more than 768mb at 1920x1200 with 4x AA? So far I haven't seen a game go above about 600mb with my 8800GT 1GB.
