Crazy hot. Was about to pull the trigger until I checked out the $16 shipping (with insurance) which makes it about $244 with a $40 rebate for me.

I'm feeling risk averse, so I'll give this deal a pass.

only reason i'm a little hesitant is this company is relatively unknown. How likely is it that we will get a rebate? I can find reviews on their HDMI version of their card but its quite different than the one in this deal.

I don't think anyones going to be able to answer your question. Maybe the company took the safe route or maybe it really needs it because of bad card design. I have seen other people ask the same question and no one has come up with a good answer.

Beware of loud fans. I was going to jump on this deal until I found out that there's 2 versions of this card, and one of them has a fan that's stuck at 100% or something like that. I *think* the round one they have pictured and are currently shipping (according to their note) is the quiet one , but I'm not sure. All I have to go on is the user reviews on the same page.

That is correct. They are only shipping out the model with the circular fan from coolermaster. Although both models have the fan stuck at 100% the fan used in the coolermaster version is super quiet.

you can use one. two for overclocking

or so they say.

I have the version with the flat reference design heatsink+fan

I love it.

but i've never tried any other 8800GTs so my opinion is not valid.

Mine arrived today. It looks great, though I won't have any time to do benchmarks until this weekend. They have only been shipping the quiet one (with the round Coolermaster cooler pictured on the ncixus.com site) for the last couple of weeks. This is a hot deal, no doubt. Others have reported being able to get very good overclocks. This card allows you to overvolt the GPU just by moving a jumper rather than doing a mod to the card.

Galaxy Tech isn't a common name in the U.S., but they are well known in other parts of the world. The rebate has a No-Wait option where you can get the rebate mailed (or deposited into your PayPal account) within a week of them receiving your paperwork. I believe they charge you about 10% for the "service fee," but what's the real difference between $40 in 12 weeks and and $36 this week?

Also, NCIX handles the warranty for one year on all OEM products like this one. That means you won't have to ship your card to the other side of the world if there's a problem with it.

short answer: it doesn't

when i bought mine i had a PSU with only one pci-e plug... so i tried it. worked great, even in heavy gaming (HL2, bioshock, BF2).

I believe the second plug is for added stability when overclocking. some versions of this board (not this one, or at least not mine) have a jumper to increase GPU voltage. I would assume that the extra connector is for added stability when running it in over-volted mode.

It sounds like the cards they're shipping now don't have a problem fan. I dunno about a bios, but a resistor would fix the problem. :)

I bought the OEM Galaxy 8800GTS 512mb, and I got the video card with accessories in a white cardboard box. Here's what was in the box:
Video card
Driver CD
2 DVI/VGA adapters
S-video cable
Molex-PCI-E adapter

Basically, everything you get in a retail packaged video card, minus the pretty box and any additional software.

My GTS is a bone stock card, with the standard heatsink and nVidia sticker on the fan. For the price, I'm quite happy.

It's funny how a company like "Galaxy" can get enough 8800GT GPUs to produce these Video Cards, but a big company like say, MSI can't get any to produce any 8800GT Video Cards to supply Super-Freaking-Huge Companies like Dell with several thousand open orders to fill!

WTF !

Well I bit, came out to $240 shipped. Plan on using the one-week rebate to get $36 back instead of waiting the full time for $40. Means $204 for a semi-retail 8800GT, not bad IMO. Appears the card they're shipping now is quite quiet compared to earlier models people were complaining about.

I'd be wary because knowing that it has two PCI-E plugs means it isn't a reference design.

well evga selling 8800GT for $229 @ microcenter

Galaxy @ $228.32 don't see nothing strange about it

rebate: they keep $40 for 6-8 weeks artificially inflate profit for the 1-2 month and then send your check.

not bad deal

Is the fan still stuck at 100% or has that been fixed ?
