Look, BoberFett has a point. Just because you support not using XP doesn't mean you have to be a **** about it.

I love XP for the older games, classics that do not work under Vista or Windows 7. I also love Windows 7 64-bit because it is stable, fast, and the UI is not messed up like Win 8.

But the other point is also valid in that XP is not a good platform for future games for a lot of reasons.

I think it's about time games start pushing forward with these requirements. The market segment with the 32 bit and DX9 probably can't run the games well anyway.

tell me how requiring a 64 bit computer and dx 10 or dx 11 to a 15 year old outdated basic gameplay framework is progress?

i will stick with a space game that actually has some sort of a appropiate and suitable map structure like sins of a solar empire or sword of the stars

No one who takes PC gaming seriously still uses XP.

I'd like to call you a dildo. But I just finally moved my game system to Win 7.

I DID lose compatibility with a couple dozen games I totally love.
But on the plus side, I gained compatibility with 1 game I find mildly entertaining and 2 games that turned out to be lame.

Just out of curiosity, which ones? There are some workarounds out there for many games. Eg, AoE2 and Diablo 2 had graphical color corruption (apparently DirectDraw/2D related) that I thought I'd lost after XP -> 7, but they can both be fixed with a batch file.

Are you implying that GalCiv 3 will feature 15 year old gameplay styles and outdated visuals, or otherwise not make use of a 64 bit OS?

4X games will benefit immensely from the extra RAM alone.

the above

Have they released any screen shots or demos to support that? A good 4X game could very easily exceed the 3.2GB RAM limit of a 32 bit OS, and indeed should. This is 2014 now, even budget machines have 8GBs in them. If you're building a higher end gaming machine today, you're going to be sticking 16GBs in it.

all for more powerful games

however a 2d map surface is suitable for a planetary surface

you need a 3d map for the 3d galatical space of a true space strategy game
