Yeah, Atacom's great. Their site isn't as "friendly" but if you know what you're looking for, their prices and service are very good.

Speaking of Atacom, does anyone know what the difference is between these two?

GAINWARD GEFORCE4 4200 128MB DDR 4ns W/ DVI /VIVO-(GOLDEN SAMPLE) $219.95
GAINWARD GEFORCE4 4200 128MB 4ns DDR W/ DVI /VIVO (VIDEO -IN /OUT) $209.95

And don't say $10. I thoght Gainward had only one version of the 128MB 4200.

Golden samples are *supposed* to be handpicked as the best chips and best overclockers. I'm not sure how much of a difference there is in practice but the golden sample is getting dangerously close in price to Ti4400s which are guaranteed to run faster

paopao -- I don't know too much about the Radeon LE, so I can't give you a specific opinion about whether you should upgrade. However, I did upgrade from a GeForce DDR to a Gainward Ti4400 (not 4200, but should be close). Also, not sure how you feel about 3dmark2001, but this will give you a sense for my benchmarks (all at standard 1024x768). My system is an old PIII 800 (o/c from 600), 256mb PC100 RAM, etc. (soon to be upgraded). I went from 2500 3dmarks to 6000+ with the new card. I can turn on 2x AA with a minor hit, and 4x AA drops me only to 4000 3dmarks. Overclocking video card does nothing for now, because I am so processor limited.

Should you buy it? I upgraded now because the fan on my GF DDR died and I was getting eratic performance, otherwise, the card is too much for my system (until I upgrade). You'll see some improvement and it will only get better if/when you upgrade the rest of your PC.

Good luck.

I was in Best Buy today and they had the Visiontek 4200 128meg for $250, there was a $20 MIR but this price is nuts.

ah heck newegg, anything over 200$ is a RIP-OFF.

The 4200 is meant to be RRP of 199$ US, and as low as 150$ US if not 120$ us (hardocp) - as a "budget" card I don't believe it's worth paying ANY more than 190$ US for the 128mb version, maybe 199$ US for the full retail boxed vivo's but people paying 210+ and shipping may as well have got a "proper" 4400 in my opinion

Nvidia pre-released hype on this card so that people wouldn't buy ATI, the rumour is true as far as I'm concerned, I'm very disapointed with the 4200 pricing.

Hi All,
I was just looking at NewEgg. And it seems that there are 2 diffrent listings for the Gainward ti4200 w/ 64MB that are identical in price and the whole listing. Am I missiong something? One says out of stock, the other is in stock.

I plan on upgrading from my Geforce2, and want to do so ASAP. Anyone have any ideas?

Scott

**EDIT** I just went back to check it out again, and now seems that the duplicate that was in-stock has been deleted from their website. Now I need to find somewhere to get a Ti4200

You are indeed missing something. Look for the DVI out information, as one only has a CRT out and the other has both.
