I've never even heard of Asylum. Gainward cards rock though... my past 2 cards have been Gainward Golden Samples...and so will my next one, whenever I decide to upgrade again. :)

now i am going back to the electronic store and return asylum and get gainward, they are both the same price, $140 - $40 mail-in-rebate = $100

Gainward is also known for having some of the best IQ for the Geforce's. I had a Gainward GF3 and a gigabyte GF3 ti200 and the differance in IQ was amazing.

well, i am not sure anymore about returning the aslyum card because it says it is has a 256 bit Graphics Accelerator and i think the Gainward card is only a 128 bit. does this make any difference?

Get the gainward they are respected company that has been around for a while, i haven't even heard of Asylum. The Gainward is actually the newer card as you can see with the Asylum being 4X AGP, and Gainward being 8X AGP. Doesn't makes a difference in benchmarks but still.

BTW. Speaking of packaging, DFI has amazing boxes for there motherboards, well designed even gold lettering. That doesn't make there boards any good though :)

PS I'm not saying the DFI boards are terrible, they are good for the price(they are budget boards after all).

Ignore it. If they are both Ti4200s, then they are both the same board(more or less). Gainwards have much better 2D IME compared to the BFGs and tend to OC a decent amount better also.

both cards have a 256 bit GPU. they both have a 128 bit memory buss. you must have gotten memory bus confused with gpu.

If they are both the same price, then definitely get the Gainward.

1. Gainward has a good, solid rep for producing quality cards that O/C nicely.
2. Gainward has a very decent tech dept. / Warranty dept.
3. Gainward is 8x (which doesn't mean much now, but might as well be future proof at no extra cost)
4. Gainward uses a lovely RED pcb
5. Last time I checked, the BOX the card comes in doesn't help performance. Heck, my SLK-800 came in one of the most non-descript, boring brown boxes I have ever seen, yet it is one of the all time GREAT coolers. If a company has to spend a lot of $$ on flash and marketing to get you to buy their products, what does that say about the qulaity of their merchandise?
