I just bought the gainward GF4 PowerPack! ultra/650xp with VIVO. I am really excited about finally having video in, but I'm having a problem. Every video that I encode doesn't run in Windows XP. When I open the file I get that annoying window that says an error has occured and asks whether I want to report it to Microsoft. I don't know what the problem is... I've tried reinstalling WinCoder, the WDM and the regular video drivers. I can't seem to find any setting in the properties of WinCoder to change. One weird thing though... I can open and play the video files in WinProducer. I've also tried re-encoding the files to another video format in WinProducer, but I still get the same error. Any suggestions??? Please help me out!!

I had the same problem. You have to go into the setup and change the profiles it saves the mpeg at. Make a duplicate of the "PAL VCD or "NTSC(those are the right initials right? lol) VCD", and you can mess with the resolution if you want. 640x480 produces a fair size, or you can just use those profiles to encode.
I ended up using 640x480 and lowering the sound quality to 128kbps and I got an hour of VHS footage into around ~500mb. Looks good on TV.
