Hi All,

Does anyone know where I can score a Gainward BLISS 7800 GS 512MB AGP (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30502 )? Yes, I'm still stuck with an AGP system and it doesn't look like I'll be upgarding to PCI-e anytime soon, so this card will have to do in the meantime. As you can see, it's no slouch :). I live in the US so I'm not sure how difficult it is to attain Gainward hardware outside of Europe.

TIA!

Please don't buy that. Just go PCIe, you'll be happy you did. Plus it will probably come out cheaper and with a better vid card (512mb 7800gs? please don't waste your money, if not for you then do it (PCIe) for me).

Dude, even if they sold it here, the price would be more than a pci-e mobo and 7900GT. Why would you want to spend more money for a much slower card?

It's really only in Europe, and why can't AGP guys just make the leap into PCIe?

OP, you have a Socket 939 proc. Why not switch to PCI-E?

re-installing or reparing a windows install seems like a pretty big reason not to. Unless theres some new windows trick that makes it not freak out and refused to boot on a new motherboard(of different make).

I just upgraded from a 6800GT/NForce 3 system to an X1900XTX/NForce 4 Ultra system & didn't have to re-install Windows... just swapped out the components, plugged everything together & she booted right up.

That thing will probably cost over $400 dollars...and it's barely faster than a 7800gs.

I wouldn't recommend getting one unless there's no way for you to get a PCI-e mobo.

Actually it's considerably faster than a 7800GS, but still, overpriced because it has no direct competitor.

Hell even the days of switching chipset providers is almost completely gone, but Nforce3 to Nforce 4 is no problem at all. At that price a $100 mobo and 7900GT will be a much much much better buy. Just because they make a card in AGP doesn't mean it should be purchased.

change your hd controllers to a generic driver in xp before swaping the board.
