As far as I understand they all have the capability you just have to upgrade the BIOS on the old ones. I think people aren't jumping all over this because most of the hardcore nerds already upgrade and this thread does not have that much visibility. I was actually looking for a card since yesterday and almost bought one last night but didnt, good thing because I searched for 6800 this morning and found this. This is definately the best 6800 GT deal you can find right now, and I just want mine to ship before most people catch on to this deal. The benchmarks on GamePC are quite impressive and as long as these are golden samples, this deal is HOT. If they aren't golden samples, then it is just a pretty good deal and probably the GT to get anyway but nothing to call home to mom about. It seems everyone who got one so far got a Golden Sample. I don't know how they got shipping so quick. I chose 5-7 day ground to get the cheapest deal. Gotta save every penny even when you make a good amount of money :)

I ordered about 4 hours ago and after I did I went back to the web site and looked at the "more images" that use to be the GS now it shows the standard GT.... Sooooo I am wondering if I got duped a little, I know it is still a good deal but I was really hoping for the GS.

1. Nobody is guaranteed a GS.
2. Some of us are still holding out on the Provantage deal for $50 less.
3. That bracket looks like trouble for MB compatibility.
4. OC means more heat and with no exhaust system, that baby will add a ton of heat to your case and could lower your CPU OC. Probably pretty close to a majority of GT owners are planning on an NV5 Silencer to keep their system temps from skyrocketing.

Aside from that, this is a great deal and I almost bought one this morning. Also notice that if people were actually paying that $450 from two weeks ago, then there would have been no reason to stop price gouging. And also don't forget the inordinate number or lurkers on boards like this who've probably already gobbled up quite a few.

Actually, I just ordered one up here and the CSR verified that it is a Golden Sample...
We'll see when it comes in...
Bump for a great deal nevertheless...

If I can verify it before they ship, then I'll cancel my other preorder and deal with the bracket hassle on this one.

I seemed to have finally recovered from the Gateway X800 XT PE deal, and waited for a nice 6800 GT deal to come along...seems to be the best deal going right now for a next gen video card. I called the number on the website, got a human being without fighting through a phone tree. He (Chris) confirmed that this is a "GS" and I placed my order today. Thanks for the tip and I'll keep ya posted...

Fine, I guess this is (today) the best way to spend my 4 bills. I'll remain forever pissed about the various foul retailers I've encountered over the last few months, trying to upgrade.

Here's hoping for a GS

I was going to hop on this deal, but I just found out today that circuit city will be getting them in. I have no clue when though. When it does though, I'll probably be able to get for 300.

How did you hear Circuit city will be getting these in? I have been waiting for them to get any 6800s in. I have a $100 gift card that i would love to apply to a GT but there are no 6800s on CC's website. Do you know what brand they are getting in? Thanks!

Here's the deal on the Gainward 6800 GT card.

We received a shipment that was mixed with Golden Sample as well as non-GS cards. Being that we received them together, we did not create a separate item for the GS cards. This being said, some customers have received GS card, and some will receive non-GS cards. We cannot guarantee it will be a GS card, so I would look at it as buying a 6800 GT at a good price, and hopefully a GS will arrive.

Separate them, create a new item, and charge $5-10 more for the GS. Has to be worth your time and would set a lot of customers at ease. Just a suggestion.

Anyway, thanks for clarifying.

I agree... I have 2 LCDs and need the dual DVI, I would be most upset to receive VGA/DVI. I would be happy to pay extra to be sure to receive the GS. Thanks... APC

Interesting...

I called Monarch and was told that the non-GS does have one VGA/ one DVI.

The representative told me that the majority of the cards are the GS.

Like I said, if I can get confirmation before it ships, I'll order one, but I'm not taking a chance when a representative just made it very clear that you aren't guaranteed squat.

For those who are concerned about this fitting a mobo, my friend/coworker (i.e. the guy who made me start this thread) has his GS running just fine without any problems on his MSI K8N Neo Plat.

Why, because you work there? Take it to the bragging thread. Circuit city will not sell them for anywhere near 300. The 6600s aren't even out yet and are set for 250$.

Well we just started stalking some old evga cards (geforce 5500, 5200,....) so I figured I would email evga sales to see if circuit city has put in any orders for the 6800 series. Heres what i got:

Dear Mike,

Yes, we have had some orders of the e-Geforce 6800 series video cards sent to certain Circuit City. If you want a specific video card model to be carried in a certain Circuit City location, then you will have to inquire with the purchasing manager of the respective district to arrange it. Also keep in mind that the 6800 series video cards are still in such a high demand that some video card models such as the 6800 Ultra are more difficult to be obtained in certain locations.

eVGA.com Customer Service

I am going to talk with my lead manager to see if he can get some of the gt's stocked in our store. I am guessing maybe in a month or two, all stores will be stocking them.
