Gainward 5900 Ultra in a SFF Machine

Hi All,

I recently got a broken Dell Machine with a P4 2.8 (800FSB) 512DDR/HDD etc. The MB died. I have my original Gainward 5900 Ultra that I would like to use in a backup build. I am looking for a Small Form Factor (SFF) machine that I can put all my parts into along with the Gainward card. I know it takes two slots, so I have to be able to have that, but I am also concerned about the length of the card. Has anyone used this card in a SFF machine? Any recommendations on a Barebones box that I can get. I am not looking to spend much money as this is a second machine, but I would like to put my 5900 back into service if possible.

Thanks,

If you're looking into doing this on the cheap, I'd go with a aspire qpack and an asus p4p800-vm with the intel 865 chipset.

I doubt you'd have any problems fitting that card in the case, but your pretty much out of luck if you want a shuttle, since you'd have to cut the side of the case to fit the double slot in.

The case is great, looking at the MOBO, it looks like the HS for the 865 chipset and the posts for the memory are real close to the AGP line, has anyone used a Gainward 5900 Ultra in this board?

Thanks for the help ND40oz

Actually, one additional question for you, what HSF would you use for this?
