I had some spare time on my hands this morning waiting for the race to come on. I had been thinking for sometime now I was gonna try drilling numerous holes on my stock Tbird Heatsink and see what happened. I have noticed that when fans are mounted that close to a closed surface they are less efficient especially when blowing towards. Any way I drilled me 4 holes(5/32 or so) in the bottom plate at each corner of the core, then drilled about12 more spread out through the bottom plate. Then I turned it up sideways and drilled 4 holes completely through the fins to the other side. Took me some time to clean all the shavings etc. Put some paste back on and mounted and sure enough temp was lowered 6-8 deg. running RC5 which tends to heat mine up quick. cranked up UT and played some mplayer, opened a bunch of other progs and windows just to stress it a bit and it remained consistant. I know thats not huge but I have some other combos here I am going to try like the VOS32 and a coolermaster. Not sure I am willing to drill my Alpha though !
