Are any of these protein or weight gain mixes low in sugar/starch/simple carbs. Do they give a glycemic index (for a hypoglycemic)?

I have a recipe for Banana Oatmeal Milkshake that I created back in the mid 80's. It works amazingly well for weight gain. Although I'm as big as I want to be now, I was smaller in high school. (about 190lbs). These shakes put much mass on me in my highschool years way back when. I can post the recipe if you like. They taste great and are simple to make.

what kind of vegitarian are you? one that just became one for kicks, or do you actually figure out how to get all the neutrients you need by planning meals? you need to eat a lot to get all you need as a vegetarian..and far worse as a vegan.

I'll like the recipe posted here - do you have to cook the oatmeal first? Thanks in advance.

what kind of protein shake?

im 125 now and i used to be 135 when i was eating at the in laws house everyday.
im 5'6" and i really want to gain some weight so i can be a little physical in sports

Optimum 100% Whey ProteinText

do i have to work out or is it just a supplemental?

I used to eat Weight Gainer 2200 from GNC
Text

Tried to follow the recommendations on it, but the stuff is so nutritious, I could not finish one blender glass full with milkshake. So, I put a little less of powder in one shake. Never skipped a meal or anything, and worked out two to three times a week in the gym.

But then, I noticed I started to do #2 _a lot_. And this stuff is expensive, even if you buy it online or on the right dates at GNC and get 2nd half off. So, I figured, I'm literally turning money into sh1t. And I stopped eating it. Besides, I was so sick of the taste, I wouldn't eat it any more anyway.

Now, I'm still at 150 being 6'2". Oh well. Never moved into another weight category, like I hoped, but at least working out in the gym did me good.

I did that too at first...drank a whole lot of them and I would sh!t them all out.
I too stopped drinking that stuff.

Recently, I put another effort into gaining weight.
I slowly got my body getting used to all the food I'm eating.
Eating alot + working out alot = bigger appetite.
Now I started drinking the protein shakes again and I don't have the problem of sh!tting anymore.

My point is that you have to get your body used to all the food you're consuming.
You can't just suddenly one day start drinking those protein shakes 3 times a day.

Just pretend like you are on atkins and eat loads of fat and protein. You will *appear* to lose weight but as all the experts here will tell you it's just water that you are losing. Then you can drink water and you will gain massive amounts of weight.

I knew going when I was chosing to become a vegatarian that I'd have a harder time getting enough protein in my diet. But I have a some idea nutrition wise of what I should be eating.

your a dick.

I am a phattie, I work out 3x a week, I eat fairly well, and I'm still a phattie. I have gone down from 305 to 260 since I started college, and I can run a mile or so in like 9 and a half mins, so I'm not THAT out of shape. But still, people who are underweight suck. Enjoy being underweight, jump high and do flips and crap like that I'll never be able to do.

As to how you can gain weight- MMORPG will do it. Evercrack, world of warcraft, FFXI, whatever. You'll gain weight.

I know my metabolism will eventually slow down...I saw it happen to my brother.

I used to be skinny in high school. I am bigger now, not huge but decent size. If you want to gain weight, you will have to eat more. Just consume more calories.

Watch out, you may get more than what you bargain for. We don't want another thread from you later...."Help, How To Lose Weight" 😀

If you're a vegan, then you're SOL. There's no such thing as a vegan bodybuilder.

If you're lacto-ovo then cottage cheese, milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs, and egg whites are the way to go. Get 15-20 pounds of unflavored whey and mix it in with everything. Sweet potatoes, plain potatoes, rice pudding, any baked goods, OATMEAL, etc.

If you eat fish, then tuna and salmon are the way to go. Just look at the grams of protein/dollar ratio in a can of tuna. Best bang for the buck. Pretty much all protein, too.

Oh, and you should be lifting like everyone else said. 2-3x a week with no additional cardio (don't worry about getting fat, it'll come off in no time once you've got muscle). When you lift, lift heavy. Like BB Squats so hard you throw up kind of heavy. Don't go to failure until your final work set.

These are just some basic guidelins. Look into HIT and HST. Read everything you can at bodybuilding forums, and the HST forums. Oh, and spend all your money on solid foods and whey. You don't need supplements to get big.
