I got an excessive acceleration ticket in a parking lot being an idiot. I was going around a corner and gave it some gas up to about 35mph, and a cop stopped me on the spot. This was in texas and I can't find the information for the fine or what the punishment is? Anyone care to help me out?

Yeah, I agree. He even had the nerve to tell me he was doing me a favor by not taking me in for wreckless driving... I was like wth? My tires didn't even spin.

I went to the texas dps website and searched and looked through like 10 articles and couldn't find the punishment... Thanks.

You were doing 35mph around a corner in a parking lot? Dumbass. Too bad all you got was a ticket, though. It's idiots like you that hit old ladies because they feel like being stupid for a moment.

Also, you got a ticket but the fine isn't listed on the ticket? Shens? Isn't the ticket required to show the amount of the fine? Can you just not read the officer's writing?

Be careful in parking lots. There's always people walking around so you're bound to hit somebody.

That sounds nuts to me, what's the "limit" of excessive accleration anyway? If there's no hard figure and he can't prove it. :|

Yeah, I was going a bit fast, but the parking lot was empty except for about 6 cars, and they were near the movie theatre, I was at the back end of a probably 200 car parking lot, at least 150-200 yards away from the closest vehicle... He was driving by and came in the entrance to the parking lot and started flashing his lights.

The only reason he stopped me is because my exhaust clip broke two days ago and I'm assuming he heard it. My car sounds like I'm slamming it when it idles at the moment.

The OP just admitted to doing 35 in a parking lot. Do YOU do 35 in a parking lot? It's a PARKING. LOT. Not the local drag strip, not the highway, a parking lot. 25 is way too damn fast in a parking lot.

Kaufman county

I know I was a bit fast, but the parking lot WAS all but empty. I endangered no one.

Also this parking lot is in the middle of nowhere, all that's around it is fields, and you can see everything around it.

It must been a pretty lenient corner or you had some good tires, because 35 mph around a corner is pretty fast for a parking lot.
I personally don't go over 25 in a parking lot. People are damn crazy and back out suddenly or walk out of no-where.

4 wheel drive FTW.

And for those saying I needed to watch for people backing out, I was at the BACK of an EMPTY parking lot.

I figured out the county before you even told me, but from what I can find on the internet is that you are ranging from $50-$200. I don't know about your county because I cannot find its fines for excessive acceleration.

Why were you doing 35 around a corner in 4 wheel drive in a parking lot?

No specific reason, like I said, I was being an idiot... I guess it would be "having fun" to me. But my definition of fun can be stupid sometimes.

And I drive in 4 wheel drive on concreate rarely, just when I want to have "fun" like I said...

While I am not sure on the legalities of a police officer giving you a moving violation on private property...I would fully support the officer tasering you for going 35MPH in a parking lot.

How stupid can you be? BTW, its RECKLESS

I was accelerating around the corner to 35 guys... I entered the corner at MAX like 20 or so... I came out of the corner at just below 30, and ended up at 35 shortly afterwords. That's when I saw flashers. All those numbers are probably high, but I'm basing it off of seeing flashers at 35...

I in no way hit the corner so fast I was going to slide out of control and crash or anything... I'm not THAT dumb...

It was probably 9 at night, I was leaving, and no one was in sight. I was playing around and did something stupid, I admit it wasn't the brightest thing. I still think the ticket's stupid but it's the cop's judgement and I'll take the fine. I was just curious as to what the fine was since he didn't write it on the ticket.

Just double checked ticket for accuracy, it was 8:34, the officer did not write a fine, and it just says report to court on or before the date listed.
