WTF when I BUY a DVD(Specifically Fantastic 4) do they find the need to, along with the usual crap movie previews that I have to forward through, put a long clip telling me:

"YOU"

"WOULDN'T"

"STEAL A CAR"

"WHY WOULD YOU STEAL"

"MOVIES"

"PIRACY"

"IS A CRIME"

"DON'T BUY PIRATED MOVIES"

I think most of you have probably seen this ad if you have been to the movies recently or own a similar DVD. Does anyone else hate this!?

I paid for the DVD, give me my movie! I didn't pay for the movie companies to lecture me on how I shouldn't do something that I am not doing!

That's a pretty big assumption to assume that not a single one of those watching the DVD have never stolen a car before.

I usually just skip it. :)

I have no problem with them putting that stuff on there. They publish the DVD, they can put whatever they want on it. Just be glad they don't disable the fast forward and/or skip button like they could.

It seems that everything the motion picture and recording industries do to combat piracy pisses people off. I'd love to know what they could do that WOULDN'T piss people off.

Maybe don't tell people that ARE buying your DVD's to not download/buy pirated ones? If they did that that wouldn't piss me off

It's a public education campaign. People who pirate DVDs also buy them occassionally. I don't think it's a highly effective campaign, but I don't fault them for trying.

It's also probably geared for the online/store movie renting demographic.

Those with Netflix and such prolly rip a lot of movies.

I don't like it either but it makes sense. What other venue would be appropriate? I mean, people who pirate movies are real big movie fans. Chances are, they buy/watch DVD's too. So of course you'll have anti-piracy reminders there. Where else would they put it? In jail?
