GAH!! I found a flea on my dog!!

No. IMO, Hartz anything is crap.

Zodiac makes OK products, and the Frontline spray is very good.
Are you using the monthly flea control drops like either Frontline Plus or K-9 Advantix?

Nope.... my dad thinks keeping him leashed in the kitchen all day long is considered raising a dog.

Good to know that Hartz stuff doesn't work, I'll go return them tomorrow.

Don't waste your money on anything you can buy at a grocery store.

advantage or frontline - they should be alternated year to year to prevent an immunity to them. These are systemic - it won't wash off like sprays. One will sometimes work better than the other. It's expensive but worth it.

Are the sprays effective enough so that I don't have to bother with gels or shots?
And what about house surfaces and pet bedding? I'm betting that Frontline or Advantage also sells a spray for this as well?

Like any pest, you have to do a complete removal. If there is a bad infestation, remove people and pets and do a whole house fogging. Some say you'll need another one in few days to kill hatching eggs.

For "just a few fleas", I've gotten away with just advantage/frontline. Can't say where any fleas in the house that weren't on the pet go.

I haven't heard of any advantage sprays. It'll take this stuff a few days to work. It makes the animal unattractive to the fleas/ticks/etc. iirc, it doesn't actually kill them.

I have two inside/outside dogs that run in the surrounding fields and woods. They don't ever get fleas - can't say why. Some years, the ticks are bad. Other years, I don't need to use anything.

Hartz is crap but the reality is that all flea meds lose effectiveness over time. You need to switch up whatever you use every year.

Hartz does NOTHING. Use an oatmeal shampoo, then Frontline. Spray your house, as well.

I would turn this in to animal reg after than worry about cheap flea products.

Adams flea spray is decent and won't kill your pet.
