Sophmore in college here and i've forgotten how to graph data points. I have $200 to spend on two items (x = $8) and (y= $12). which program can i use and how would i about doing this to display a set of all possible combinations of buying these items. Better yet, how would i graph this out on paper? Any help would be appreciated. This is only the first question of a very long problem... I just need to get started

Heisenberg has it..and from there you can either get the x and y intercepts and slope, or put it in y-intercept form and make it a tad simpler.

In that form, Ax + By = C, A = 8, B = 12, and C = 200..

The slope from that form is -A/B, which would make it -8/12, or -2/3. That means for every 3 horizontal moves, you will go up two.

The x-intercept is C/A, and in this case it's 200/8, or 25. (25,0) then is the point where it hits the x-axis.

The y-intercept is C/B, and in this case it's 200/12, or 50/3, or about 16.6..and that's where it hits the y-axis (0,16.6).

So just draw out your graph, fill in the appropriate points on the x-axis and y-axis, and connect a straight line between them. Your line should go from top left to bottom right..

i get how to graph it by hand now, but i dont have a Ti-83 anymore. is there a computer app that can come up with this graph? And i'm also dealing with points on the graph here that have to be whole numbers... i can't buy 2 and 2/3's of an item.
