This problem has plagued me for a week now. Just randomly started occurring.

Windows 7 x64
I'll connect to a wifi network but when I try to browse to a website using ANY browser it immediately gives me a website not found error (perhaps the website moved to a different address, etc). I have to restart the computer to get it back working again.

Things I've tried (and haven't had work)

1. update/uninstall wifi drivers
2. I don't have any Norton products
3. disabled Windows firewall
4. tried different wifi networks
5. no firewalls
6. tried different browsers
7. BUT I CAN STILL PING!

WTF. This pisses me off so much. Occurs 4+ times a day and I have to stop all work and photo processing and shut down the entire system. I'm about to throw this damn thing out the window.

First scan the computer for Viruses and Malware.

If needed clean it up.

Then do this, WinSock and TCP/IP Refresh.

Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.

Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a Command Prompt as an Administrator. Allow elevation.

Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt , and then press the Enter key.

Do the same process for refreshing the TCP/IP just replace the typed command with.

netsh interface ipv4 reset
press Enter

netsh interface ipv6 reset press Enter

ipconfig /flushdns press Enter

Restart your Computer.

Thanks. I'll gve it a go. Any reason after a restart browsing works, then after an hour or so it stops working? Sometimes it seems to not work after it awakes from sleep. Other times I feel like the computer has been constantly on when it suddenly stops working.

As a troubleshooting step next time the issue comes up, try putting an IP address for a known website in your browser and see if that brings up the site. Sounds like trouble resolving DNS but I can't think of why it would be happening like that.
