Gaetz out as AG

Yeah best news I've heard today.

I know Trump will still fill the position with an unqualified and/or unfit ass licking sycophant, but I'm still glad to see Gaetz denied that kind of power and influence.

Still 2 months until inauguration and his second term is already a disaster. Maybe he'll churn through a bunch of crap before getting into office.

If you think about it. Trump just nuked a troublesome problem from the House. Got him to resign a couple of days before the ethic report was going to be released. Paid of a political debt by nominating him even knowing he would get withdrawn and gets to nominate someone else from Florida with less baggage. I just don't think Trump and his handlers are that smart to figure out all that political maneuvering.

Saw on ABC evening news last night, introduced a short clip prefaced by saying "Trump is playing hardball." I swear, I had dark dreams about this last night. Trump said he'd go after any Senator who dared to vote against it, make sure they were "primaried," and said "this guy will finance it," pointing at Musk. 😱

Thinking about this today, I realized some things. Last night it sounded ominous and horrible. But I realized today that some R senators wouldn't care all that much. Some don't intend to run again. They could just vote no and go out having given the finger to Donald Trump, a badge of honor after all in some quarters. Not many would have to do that to nix Gaetz, whose nomination is an abomination. Just looking at the guy's face gives me the willies.

Major Garrett's remarks were worth taking in, he didn't sane-wash this affair.

Edit: Gaetz DID NOT WRITE his withdrawal statement on X, the language/content (seen and heard in the OP video) are way above his marginal abilities.

Edit2: Hegspeth is equally monstrously unqualified to be other than laughably considered for DOD Sec.

I think Trump is naming all these clowns to make the fascists he ends up appointing seem almost reasonable.
I don't see any other explanation. How did we get here, I still don't understand it. Is the USA in collapse... already?

Yeah, anybody who thinks he's playing 8 dimensional chess or whatever just lol. He's appointing people who stroked his ego sufficiently who also happen to be in direct proximity to his tacky corruption palace on the sea. I don't think it's a lot more complicated than that.

Dude RESIGNED his Congressional seat. He can't (or shouldn't) be able to back as a Senator. He should go back to the dairy farm.

Who replaces him, I believe it is the state's Gov. Either way it should be a special election. He resigned as soon as Trump tapped him. so he should be gone, unless appointed to a lesser role or takes a position to replace the Fox anchor.

He resigned for the current term. As he won re-election, unless he specifically declined his seat in the next Congress, I see no reason he couldn't claim the seat he won.

AFAIK thats not how it works, unless FL made some exceptions, like Rand Paul did for KY to push the primary back from a straight up vote to a caucus so that if he didn't win R nomination in 2016 he could retain his senate seat. Which was successful. But Gaetz immediately RESIGNED his seat. Thinking he would be AG.

EDIT: not sure of MG is from FL or TX. I suspect FL.

Just a reminder about who Pam bondi is:

A little pay for play action and now he’s returning the favor.

Which just makes the two month "resignation" all the more ridiculous.
"We can't release the report because he's no longer a part of congress!"

I'm fine with him going back on his next term. But that means being subject to the very standards he resigned from and the report will be released lol... He's definitely that kind of Florida man...
