wow my amex card was good for something. -_-

To bad newegg seems to be the only online portal supported that I shop at.

I can't be certain, but I just got a call from Amex. They asked if I tried to purchase some plane tickets to Denver on Continental this afternoon. I did not. I had to cancel my card. I was wondering why the web site did everything in flash.. looked pretty legit, but I think they stole my card number. I haven't used the card for anything else in a few days.

Considering that Continental doesn't exist anymore, that's a pretty impressive fraud.

Cool, thanks O.P.. Used my AMEX Blue Cash and it accepted it. Now I have the same kind of shipping with Newegg and Tigerdirect that I have with Amazon Prime. Might use them more now.

Interesting...

I signed up for this deal a few weeks ago, and within a few days my card had been 'cloned' and used for purchases in Brazil...

Never, ever had any security issues with my AmEx prior to this. And I use it for everything.

I absolutely love shop runner. I just signed up for their trial about 10 days ago.

Shop runner helps me avoid expensive Tiger Direct shipping and also speed up newegg's free shipping because their free shipping service has gone down the drain. It used to be 2-3 business days max... Now it usually takes 4-5 business days, sometimes 6...

Is this offer permanent or a temporary promotion? I'd love to sign up for an AMex card, but I don't have the credit for it right now. The Shop Runner benefit alone would make the annual fee worthwhile.

^There are plenty of AMEX cards that don't have a yearly fee. Blue, for example.

^ is absolutely correct. The CostCo Amex would be my first choice but if you're not a CostCo member, the BCE with $0 annual fee is awesome especially when factoring in this bonus.

For the record, I tried it and it worked.

Random question: I signed up for Shoprunner using my new BCE and ordered twice from Newegg. Both times, my item shipped Ground. Granted, it still gets here in 2 days, just curious why it was shipped ground. Has anyone else had that?

I just used this at the egg. Free 2nd day shipping on a router they had on sale and I wanted.

Neat.

they determine that ground is fast enough to reach you in 2 days and so ship via that method.

I see that now, thanks. Will keep that in mind once I get my credit score up to par since I have no credit history. Working on that now... It's a slow process 🙁

Oddly, this is not working for me. I can log into the ShopRunner site without any problem, but when I try to sign in from the shopping cart of Newegg, it tells me that the credentials are wrong. I've checked and re-checked to be sure they are the same I use on the ShopRunner site proper and I can't work it out. I've tried on EMS.com as well with no luck. It's very strange.

I sent a message to ShopRunner's tech support, so we'll see how that goes.

To follow up with my experience with ShopRunner's tech support:

I sent them a detailed e-mail describing the problem above and they responded by saying I might be using the merchant credentials (even though I clearly stated I wasn't) and suggested I call their phone support.

I called their phone support today and wow, I don't think I've ever dealt with more inept tech support. On the bright side, I got an agent quickly who was a native speaker of English. But it was all downhill from there. I described the problem and she had to put me on hold for five minutes to ask a supervisor what to do. She then came back saying that I had to set up a separate log-in for each merchant. This made no sense to me and I asked her how to do it, but it became clear that she was talking about the account with the merchant itself, which I have already. So again she had to go back to her supervisor. When she finally came back she said she would have to open a ticket for me. Fine. She asks for my e-mail address for the account and I give it to her. She seems confused because it isn't a yahoo or AOL address. I try to explain that I own my own domain name and that the e-mail I've given her is valid and is the one associated with my account. She then tells me that she doesn't need a domain name, she needs an e-mail, "something ending in @yahoo.com or similar". Oy. She then asks for a phone number for the account. I don't think I have one entered into my account information, so giving her that information doesn't go anywhere either. Eventually, using my name, she's able to find my account and form the support ticket. And she tells me it will take 2-3 business days and that they'll call me. I ask for an e-mail notification instead and here we go again ... I guess I should have known better.

tl;dr version: ShopRunner is a nice service, but woe betide you if you ever need tech support.

Most of my Newegg deliveries got here in two days ground just because I live in California and most of their stuff ships from the LA warehouse. Still, its nice to have Shoprunner just to make sure it always happens (occasionally something ships from back east).

Not sure there is any benefit to shoprunner for me, but it's free so I went ahead and enrolled my amex blue card. Might be good if I buy something from the egg.. although I haven't done that in a while, I don't shop there often anymore since their prices are now generally higher than many other places.

Thanks OP.

The return policy is always better with Shoprunner. Had a 7970 go bad on me and got a shipping paid shipping label, and exchanged for credit from Newegg. Picked up a GTX680 a few days later.

They are!? 😱
What other places?

Just to note, ShopRunner on Newegg completely removes the option for Rush Processing... even if you're using a NewEgg Preferred Account, which gets it for free! I placed an order yesterday prior to the 12PM PST cut-off for rush processing, and I was rather surprised to see that it didn't ship. I called up Newegg to see if there was something wrong with the order because it was supposed to ship (their automated system even told me that it would ship on 12/5), and they told me that it didn't have rush processing. 😵

I've used shoprunner over the last 2 years for tons of purchases from newegg, and I don't think they have ever shipped 2 day. I think if you are within a 2 day ground shipment eta area then Newegg just sends it ground. I've waited up to 4 business days even with shoprunner though. But it's still free.

So based on the 2 people here that had their card numbers stolen signing up with this, is this something to be concerned with? I'm not seeing anything on their page regarding any theft of accounts. I'm assuming this is just the normal bs that goes on around the holidays and not directly related to this particular page...

I just signed up the other day and have yet to see anything mysterious on my Amex account.
