I ordered a Radeon 9700 Pro from OC Systems via PriceWatch.com. That was 7/13/03. Their confirmation page sent via email says that orders usually get shipped within three days of ordering. The shipping method is listed as "Ground UPS/FedEx" --they don't even know how they're going to ship!? Anyway, it's free shipping so I don't give a rat's ass.

I sent an email yesterday asking if there was some sort of tracking number attached to my order number because I was getting anxious. Today I received an email saying that the cards are on backorder, that they're expecting their next shipment on 7/25/03 and will process my order on that date, and that my card should be shipped just after that.

WTF

I didn't see any "in stock: NO" on the initial ordering page, or any of the others for that matter --or anything else listing it as not in stock. I checked the ordering pages again today and they STILL don't list it as back order. I didn't get an email right away the first or second day saying that it was on back order. It was when I sent them an email asking that they had the courtesy to fvcking tell me that. WTF. They are going to get a SH|TTY rating from me when the deal is over. I sent them a nice big email saying how nowhere does it say that it's on back order and dooesn't give any disclaimers anywhere that if it is on back order that they will ship as soon as possible.

Fvck. I have been waiting for this card for more than a week - and now they won't even have it until Friday. :| FVCK. Stupid companies. See, I would have been fine with it. I probably would have done business with another company if I knew they weren't in stock.

GRR

I cancelled my order.

Eh... I never thought about that. They've already taken my money, to boot. I'll see if I can cancel it. Thanks.

You are getting irritated because your card got delayed by 2-3 weeks? Try dealing with Dell (especially when it comes to peripherals). You will feel like banging your head on the wall. I ordered my Sony DRU 500A in first week of october and got it in December. This was after numerous "your order is delayed until year 2020" emails.

I don't deal with Dell. I usually buy parts in-person because when I pay for something, I want it NOW. Money leaves my hands and it makes me a little uncomfortable when it's a lot of it, if I don't have my product. I ordered from a company that is full of crap, and it's my fault for not checking on them first. I fvcked up.

Did you use a credit card or a debit card?

If you used a credit card there's no real harm done, I hope to god you didn't use a debit card...

I cancelled my order. The lady over the phone hardly spoke english (big surprise?). I had to say my order number three times. Kroikey. My money should be back in my account within 48 hours, or so she said (when I asked).

And why would it make any bit of difference? If I'm getting my money back, I'm getting my money back.

It's CRIKEY! not Kroikey

48 hours is pretty quick but I'm guessing it will take 4-7 days.

It makes a HUGE difference.

With a credit card, you have a large company with expensive lawyers between the POS company & your money. With a debit card, the funds get yanked directly from your account & you're SOL until they decide to return them. Yes, you'll probably get it back. But who knows how long it will take or how much difficulty you'll have.

NEVER, EVER use a debit card on the internet.

What's the problem with using a debit or check card? My check card has the same protection as my credit card.

Sure it does, WITH ONE GLARING EXCEPTION:

Debit card = your funds are MIA until they get returned
Credit card = You can dispute the charge & not pay anything

Even honest companies can screw up. I ordered a bike from SuperGo once, they accidentally charged me twice. Only one of the holds would have posted, but if it had been debit I'd have been overdrawn by several hundred dollars with no way to get my money back right away. If rent was due, car payments, etc. you would be SCREWED.
