GA-X38-DQ6 reverts o/c settings

My system has a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 motherboard, BIOS version F7, and an Intel Q6600 (BX80562Q6600SLACR) processor. After overclocking my system, saving the settings, and rebooting my system reverts back to default settings. Prior to F7 I could not even get my G-Skill memory to work at its rated DDR2 1000 speed. Cannot set PCIe to 100 rather than "auto" or increase FSB. Has anyone run into these issues with this motherboard? Were you able to get your board to o/c?

What are your overclocking setting ? If you set memory multiplier to anything other than 2.0, it probably won't boot, wil revert to stock settings.

Even with o/c settings of CPU Clock Ratio = 8, FSB = 333, PCIe = 100 and SPD = 2 my system will not boot. The system reverts back to default settings. If I just change the PCIe bus setting from "auto" to 100 my system reverts back to default settings. At this point the only two settings that I can change are the CPU Clock Ratio from 8 to 9 and the SPD from "auto" to 4 (which takes my memory to its advertized spec's of DDR2 1000). Prior to BIOS version F7 from Gigabyte I could not even hit the spec's on my memory.

not spd 2,

try clock nulti=9,
fsb = 334,
pcie=100,
system memory multiplier=2.0 (check the list carefully, mine wasn;t in order)
(do an alt-F1 before entering that screen) manually set timings to 5-5-5-15,
fsb voltage +.2,
gmh +.2,
vcore = 1.40,
try that.

Once you get it nailed down, you should be able to get 390 x 9 or better if you have decent cooling.

And welcome to the forums @!!!!

Did not work. Configured BIOS with the following settings:

CPU Clock Ratio = 9

CPU Host Frequency (FSB) = 296; didn't want to start at 334

PCIe Frequency = 100

Performance Enhance = Standard

System Memory Multiplier (SPD) = 2.00A (also available 2.00B and 2.00D) and manually set timings to 5-5-5-15

FSB OverVoltage Control = +.2

(G)MCH OverVoltage Control = +.2

CPU Voltage Control = 1.40

After saving the setting and exiting BIOS setup the system rebooted twice (not a good sign). After checking the BIOS settings I found that the FSB vottage held, the (g)mch voltage held, and that the cpu voltage held but everything else was reset to defaults. I will continue to play with overclocking but not holding out much hope at this time.

I had the same problem with my P35-DQ6. I couldn't overclock by even 1MHz, every time I changed the FSB frequency my PC would POST and around the time that 'Memory testing' was displayed it would restart; after this restart the FSB would be 266 again.

I discovered that if I disconnected my iPod and BlackBerry (which are both recognized as flash storage) and my Dell 3007 screen USB hub I was able overclock.

After setting 'USB legacy support' to disabled I was able to leave my iPod and BlackBerry plugged whilst overclocking.

However, the strange thing is that even after flashing my Bios to the newest F7d I am still not able to connect my Dell 3007 USB hub, for doing so resets the overclock when starting the PC.

Anybody got any suggestions?

hmmm i was having the same problem on my P35-DS4 but setting 'USB legacy support' = Disable seemed to fix it

as for the other USB ports on the display... i think you have to ENABLE all the other USB devices such as Keyboard and Mouse.... my Gateway monitor USB hub works fine ...
i will go to BIOS and check out what i have enabled and disabled if you guys are still having probs.... gl on the OC fellas =)
