GA-P35-DS3 or GA-P35-DS3L?

Just wondering what the difference is between these boards?
I'm wanting to get the DS3L as I have no need for Raid, Firewire, extra PCI-E.
All I want from the board is to overclock a E6750 to 3.6Ghz stable

I have a Corsair 450W PSU,
Corsair Ram 2x1G (matched Pair) PC6400 XMS2 C4 (will these run at 900mhz at 5 5 5 18?)
Nvidia 7300
PCI TV card

Also, with the above m/board, if I change to a E7200 with the higher multis and lower FSB,
should I then be able to get 3.6Ghz and run the Ram at 750Mhz at 4 4 4 12?

Comparing the E7200 to the E6750, running them both at 3.6, I see the advantage in the lower FSB for the E7200 letting me run PC6400 slightly underclocked.
Whereas the E6750 needs the FSB a lot higher, thus requiring faster Ram.

Am I way off mark here, or is that basically what's happening?

In a nutshell, I can buy the E7200 and GA-P35-DS3L for a whole lot less than the alternatives, and if in real life I achieve the same computer speeds, I know which way I'm going.

Sorry for the long and drawn out post, but I want to get my next build right, as I fell short getting a P31 and the E6750 for my last build.

This sounds right to me. That board is working great for me.

Edit: I will say that I mean that it's working well as far as OC and stability go. For some reason I'm having trouble with the PS/2 ports, but you probably don't need those anyways.
 
i think the board should be a good board as i have friend using it.And i am able to overclock his E4500 from 2.4 to 3.4 and run stable with 1.35v
 
Just be careful flashing the P35-DS3L.
If it goes wrong you have a bricked board on your hands 🙁
I'm in the process now of building a circuit that can recover these boards and other spi flash boards , it should be cheap too, under $20 if you build it yourself.
 
I don't think I explained myself prooperly.

My future build was to be a E8500 (FSB 1333), a GA-EP45-DS3L, and 2x2G Corsair PC8500 C5Dominator.
I would overclock this setup to hopefully at least 4.0Ghz (9.5x421), which would be underclocking the 1066 Ram to 842, thus being able to run tighter timings. (I think this would work?)

But then I thought of a cheaper alternative.
This would be a E7200 (FSB 1066), a GA-P35-DS3 or DS3L (which I'd like to know the difference between),
and my existing 2x1G Corsair PC6400 XMS2 C4.
I would hopefully overclock this setup to 4.0Ghz (10x400), which would let me run my existing PC6400 Ram at 1:1.

Comparing the 2 setups, (the 1st costing me about $360 plus the 4G ram, the 2nd costing me $240 plus my existing ram)

My question is, which would be the more stable, cooler, and more likely to achieve the overclock I'm after?
 
I think 4.0 GHz on an E8500 should be practically easy as changing the FSB in BIOS, but reaching 4.0 GHz staable on an E7200 is not common. The E7200 is probably better bang for the buck though.
