Hey,

I'm building this machine for a customer.

GA-EP43-DS3
9800GTX
Q6600
2x2gig corsair PC6400 DDR2
2x250gb HDDS

Everything seems to be fine except the artifacts i'm getting.

I've tested the major components and stripped the build down to its essesntials
new gfx card - same problems
updated drivers - same problems
new RAM - same problems
even replaced the HDD - same problems
flashed BIOS - same problems

I have worked out that it has got to be something with the RAM Slots as it works 100% with only 1 stick installed. It's strange though, read the following results;

- 1 stick installed in ANY slot works perfectly fine.

- both sticks in correct slots causes it to loop during start up.

-both sticks in pair of slots (incorrect slots 1 yellow 1 red) boots into windows ok but we still get artifacts.

ive tested just about every combination of sticks and slots and the only time everything works 100% is when theres a single stick of RAM installed. i ran memtest and tried different RAM aswell, with the same results.

I flashed the BIOS and still experience the same results.

we're just about ready to send the board back to the supplier for a replacement. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or similar with this board. Any fixes or ideas would also be appreciated.

cheers

Have you flashed the latest BIOS? It's said to address memory issues. I also found regardless of BIOS, that Vista only liked 2 GB RAM tops. 4 GB resulted in lots of BSODs.

I love Gigabyte boards, but my personal experience with the EP43-DS3L has been less than stellar. In fact, I pulled my P35-DS3L out of another machine and put it back on my main machine in front of me as I just don't think it's ready for prime time.
