Hey guys,
I wanted to let you know that Googlegear has the 8INXP available now. I just picked one up a few minutes ago. The cost is a little pricey...but I was tired of waiting. Board is $266 + $1 shipping (UPS 2 day) for a grand total of $267. I hope everyone else can get one quickly. Good luck.

P.S. Evan - I guess I wont be getting that SINXP right away after all!!! lol

Boy I tell you what, that newegg auto-notify feature didn't work for me...after watching the ETA on this board continue to be bumped, I signed up for the auto-notify when they received their shipment. I never got an email :(

Sigh... comments like this sure add alot to the conversation.

Nuts is a relative term.... I don't know your financial situation, but mine permits me to buy items like this when I please without have to worry about them falling into the "Nuts" category. Nuts for me is to go out and impulse buy that $60,000 Hummer H2 that I've test driven twice.

Nuts are those who can't build their own and buy ALIENWARE/ NORTHWEST FALCON instead, SLAG!

codehack, what cpu and ram are you planning to use? I still haven't decided for mine...:)

I've got a 2.53 (C1) and 2 x 512mb sticks of Samsung PC2700. Memory is great, but I'm really itching to get a 3.06ghz chip to drop in this sucker.

Hey guys... glad to help. I hope everyone is happy with whatever board they got. I will be receiving mine tomorrow. The processor will be in on Friday and I can start to set it up. I ordered a 2.66 to go along with my 2 - 512 sticks of Corsair XMS3200 and plan to take it to 167mhz for a start ;) Only downside is I promised to take the wifey out of town this weekend, before I found out about the board. :Q So it will be a few days before I get the benchmarks up. Dooooohhhhhh!!!

I build all my own as well, not because the prefabbed stuff is junk, but because it is infinitely more fun to build than to buy, but at any rate, while I believe most of us on this forum could go drop $250.00 on a motherboard at any time, you have to admit that most boards coming out are in the $120-$160.00 range, and what you guys are "dropping money on" is almost $100.00 more for what.. increased memory scores? I for one have no qualms about spending money to get the latest hyperthreaded pentium 4 processor or fastest AMD CPU out there, but why would I when my current one is already super fast and works perfectly.

Please, by all means, show me the major differences the standard hardware enthusiast would benefit from by spending $250.00 on a granite bay motherboard as opposed to getting a nice p4pe or p4b533 e/v.

Is it just "cutting edge" that gets your goat, or what is the deal?

Thanks

"It is what I WANT for the moment"-SLAG :) I'm done with the P4B533 2 months ago, so it doesn't excite me anymore...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

codehack: Pls let us know how far your C1 2.53 goes with your new GB mobo...Im thinking of getting a C1 2.4 or C1 2.53... :) If 3.06 Price will drop down to $400 range, maybe ill pick one up...

Hey TypeM - make sure you check out some of the other posts about overclocking this board, especially w/ 9700 pro cards. Mine kept crashing until I upped the AGP/PCI lock by one. I guess the thing doesn't "really" lock ;)

Thanks for the info. I dont have a nice GPU right now. I am running a Radeon 9000 Pro at the moment. I am waiting to see if I like the GeForce FX first before I buy the high end GPU. So far, I like the 9700 AIW. I appreciate the help though, and will post my numbers probably first part of next week.

Thanks,
Mack

No offense slag, but I don't feel like It's my responsiblity to prove the economics out for a $250 motherboard. Why? Because the economics are not there. If your looking for return on investment, a $250 mobo is not the route to go. I dropped the coin because I get a kick out of playing with and tweaking the latest technology, not because it made financial sense. That aside, I'll tell you that this is by far the most *luxury* motherboard I've had the pleasure of dealing with. It just oozes features & quality. I'll give it to Gigabyte, they know how to put out a flagship product.

BTW, for those interested... no Overclocking yet, as I'm still on stock cooling... watercooler came today, so I'll be riding her hard this weekend.

Wow, someone got a little heated about the reasoning for the mobo. Well, honestly...I am going from a good old Abit BH-6 with a P3 500 to a Gigabyte 8INXP with a P4 2.66 . I dont think I have to explain anything else to anyone. You all can see that I NEEDED a new board. :D I bought this board because I want to max out my RAM and CPU. I ENJOY tweaking and playing to get the absolute out of my system.

Remember: There are those that play...then there are those that Granite Bay!!! LOL
