Hi,
I'm planning to buya new Athlon-based motherboard and the question is
which of these two is better.
The planned system components are as following:
1. CPU - Athlon XP 2500+ Barton
2. RAM - 256MB 333MHz, 256MB 400MHz
1. Model GA-7N400-L1
---------------------
CPU Type Socket A
CPU FSB 400/333/266/200 MHz
Chipset nForce2 Ultra400/MCP
Memory type DDR400/333/266
Memory socket DDR*4(dual channel)
Max. Memory 3GB
AGP interface 8X*1
PCI slot 5
ISA slot 0
AMR/CNR 0/0
VGA N/A
IDE Raid N/A
LAN Realtek PHY
Audio AC97(ALC650)
Codec channel 6
IDE ATA 2*PATA(ATA133)
USB 1.1 Same as USB2.0
USB 2.0 6(4 by cable)
DualBIOS N/A
PCB size 30.5*24.4cm
Form Factor ATX
IEEE 1394 N/A
Remark N/A
2. Model GA-7VT600-L
---------------------
CPU Type Socket A
CPU FSB 400/333/266/200MHz
Chipset VIA KT600/8237
Memory type DDR400/333/266
Memory socket DDR*3
Max. Memory 3GB
AGP interface AGP 8X*1
PCI slot 5
ISA slot 0
AMR/CNR 0/0
VGA N/A
IDE Raid N/A
LAN Realtek 8101
Audio Realtek ALC655
Codec channel 6
IDE ATA 133/100/66
USB 1.1 Same as USB2.0
USB 2.0 6(4 by cavle)
DualBIOS N/A
PCB size 30.5*20.0cm
Form Factor ATX
IEEE 1394 N/A
Remark Supports Thermal Shutdown
The significant differences except the chipsets (GA-7N400-L1: NFORCE2, GA-7VT600-L:VIA), are:
1. GA-7N400-L1 supports 4 dimms (dual channel).
2. GA-7VT600-L supports thermal shutdown feature.
What is your opinion regarding both motherboards, considering that their prices are pretty same.
Thanks.
