GA-7VRX with a barton 3200+

as far as i'm concerned, the gigabyte website states that the maximum speed for this board is a xp 2600+ (266fsb) , i'm wondering whether u could whack a 3000 or 3200+ in the board and actually get it running properly. i heard a barton would run slower than normal on this board, but i'm not sure if my comp will even start with a barton in it. I know the best thing to do would be to get a newer mobo or just get a opteron but i just wanted to see what this mobo could take.

barton runs at 333, board accepts 266 tbreds, dunno

Yes it should be able to run it if you have a fsb adjustment in your Bios. However I would not try it if you do not have a PCI/AGP lock option in your BIOS as without this you will almost certainly corrupt your hdd eventually.
