Just so you know, Vista is no longer in beta and has been final for a while. I've been running it for as long as it has been out. RTM, that is.

Note -> I did say "retail" launch.

Yes but you also said: "I guess there is hope for all you 8800 people running Vista Beta"

I hope no one is running vista beta anymore :p

Hard to see a lot of detail in that clip but the helicopter explosion at the end looked awesome.

Note: Vista Beta 2 is free (well was), RTM is not (outside of pirating).

By the time Crysis is launched nothing will be "beta" anymore anyway.

The delay in releasing Crysis is due to EA researching and implementing new forms of in-game advertising, you can expect enemy characters with scrolling banners subtly worked into their textures, advertising everything from shampoo to DDR2 memory ;)

I think the delay in Crysis was because at a point, EA (and MS) realized there was a lot riding on it. I'm not sure they were expecting quite the overwhelming anticipation they received, just in the few months following the announcement.

Actually i take that back, EA would have released the game two months ago filled with bugs.

I'd love to think that the delay meant anything good for us as consumers, but i've devloped a certain degree of cynicism regarding EA

This time around I won't blame EA for the delays.

Crysis is ambitious (kinda on the same vein than STALKER, but they have more money so they can pull it out faster, especially with such a publisher). Just look at the A.I in that recent video, running on a wall doing nothing else. And I'm sure the A.I isn't the only problematic element they are having trouble with that causes the delays. I'm pretty certain there will be plenty of patches for that game after its release.

What, you can take apart buildings and throw people through walls in FEAR and Half-life 2?

One guy in the video said the game was running on a quad core, and mentioning the importance. I wonder what differences there will be when running it on dual core.

I think I overheard him talking about Physics. They are probably running a seperate thread for the physics that takes advantage of quad core. Makes my new E6600 machine sound wussy now :(

Yes. It takes some scripting, but it's technically possible (at least the "taking buildings apart" part). As far as throwing people around and at walls just look at Garry's Mod. The engine is capable of it, you just need to modify parameters around (a good number though) and add some scripts and triggers and voila. I've played around with the Hammer Editor long enough to know it's possible. Not necessarily easy though.

Physcis are not supposed to be scripted, physics is supposed to be dynamic.
